1 dead, 19 injured on fire in the 23 -storey building of Mumbai

At least one person was killed and another is in a critical condition after a fire broke out in a 23 -storey building in Dahisar, Mumbai, on Sunday. A total of 36 inhabitants were saved. Of them, 19 were taken to nearby hospitals for treatment.

Around 3 p.m. a fire broke out on the seventh floor of a building in Dahisar East, a suburb in Mumbai. People immediately informed the police and fire brigade and seven fire trucks hurried to the site. The fire was finally extinguished at 6.10 pm.

The fire brigade teams managed to save 36 people, including women, men and children. Of the 36 rescued, 19 were admitted to nearby private hospitals. A woman succumbed to her injuries. Another well -possible girl is in serious condition and five others are being treated.

In the Northern Care Hospital, the condition of a 4-year-old boy is crucial. One person was admitted to the Pragati Hospital and the other to the Shatabdi hospital. Several of the rescued individuals are still in serious condition.

A preliminary investigation by the fire brigade revealed that the fire was created in the basement due to a defective electric wire and then spread through the electric channel.

“The fire was covered from all sides around 4.30 pm and was completely cut down at 6.10 pm. Cooling activities were underway. The fire was limited to wiring and cables in the electric channel from the ground to the fourth floor, as well as two common electric meter huts in the basement,” said an official.

There is a probe going on to determine the exact cause of the fire.
