A federal court has extended a temporary order on Thursday that the withdrawal of the Trump administration of Harvard’s ability to register international students.

The expansion came after the Trump government said it would give the university 30 days to challenge the withdrawal, according to a letter to a Wednesday evening judicial application.

The judicial document states that the Ministry of Interior Security asks “to submit sworn statements and documentary or other evidence to refute the grounds for withdrawing certification” under the Federal Student and Exchange Visitor Program, with which Harvard Foreign Students can register.

This includes misconduct data from its international students and a requirement that the university “maintains a campus environment, free from violence and anti -Semitism,” said the letter of 28 May.

Last week the Trump administration withdrew the ability of Harvard to register foreign students. Hours later the American district judge Allison D. Burroughs temporarily blocked the efforts of the administration.

Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Name posted the letter on Thursday on X.

“The refusal of Harvard to comply with SEVP supervision was the last proof that the American people face and naturally regards the benefits of the taxpayer,” wrote, referring to the foreign student program. “After our letter to Harvard, the school tried to claim that it now wants to meet SEVP standards.”

“We continue to reject Harvard’s repeated pattern to jeopardize his students and spread American hatred – it must change his ways to participate in American programs,” she added.

Harvard did not immediately return a request for comment.

Burroughs said she would leave the temporary order in place until it could be replaced by a provisional order. No date or timeline was discussed on Thursday for when a formal order could be issued.

Burroughs’ expansion of the order came to the Day of the 347th diploma from the university.

If the withdrawal is successful, foreign students who study at Harvard lose their ability to stay in the United States unless they transfer schools. International students are about a fourth of the student body of the university.

The Trump government is also fighting the oldest and demonstrably most prestigious university of the Nation University for the financing of the federal government that gives Harvard the opportunity to conduct ultramodern research. Last month, the Harvard administration stripped $ 2 billion in federal research fairs, causing Harvard to encourage himself.

On Monday, Trump said on his social media website, Truth Social, which he is considering removing $ 3 billion in subsidy money from Harvard and instead giving commercial schools.

Harvard President Alan Garber said in an interview on Tuesday with NPR that he “was less concerned about whether it is going to a trade school or whether it is going to another project, such as working on highways.”

“What the real question is, how much value does the federal government get from its expenses for research?” Garber said.

The legal fighting came shortly after Harvard refused to meet a list of major requirements of the Trump administration task force to combat anti-Semitism last month.

The Task Force wanted to supervise who allows Harvard and hires its faculty and subject it to a government audit.

The confrontation with Harvard is one of the broader efforts of the Trump government to determine who has access to higher education in the US

On Tuesday, the administration stopped planning new interviews for international students looking for Visa to study in the US, according to an internal cable seen by NBC News. According to the cable, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs will also expand its screening of the use of social media of Visa applicants.
