A man was arrested on suspicion of the sexual abuse of an 84-year-old Santa Monica woman.
In the incident earlier this month, the woman was heard screaming for help after the 39-year-old man dragged her to an alley, the police of Santa Monica said Tuesday.
At about 9.30 pm 5 June, the police responded to the cries of the woman near the intersection of Wilshire Boulevard and 6th Street, according to the police statement.
“On arrival, officers found an 84-year-old resident of Santa Monica who seemed to be in need,” the police said. “The victim reported that she was approached and grabbed from behind by a male suspect who then dragged her to a nearby alley and tried to attack her sexually.”
The department said there were several witnesses on the spot who supported the woman’s statement and told officers that the suspect fled north. The police were able to find and hold the suspect on 5th Street and California Avenue.
The suspect, Pape Tall of Long Beach, has been sued by the Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office with crime counts, including abuse with the intention of committing rape and kidnapping with the intention of committing rape, the police said.
Tall was charged on June 9. He is held in the central prison of the gentlemen in the center of Los Angeles without bail. His next judicial date is planned for July 9 in the Airport Courthouse near Los Angeles International Airport.
