Vehicles sell in April by 13% yoJ as a result of bad two -wheelers shipments

The total domestic wholesaler (shipments to dealers) of passenger vehicles (PVs) grew by around 4 percent on an annual basis (yej) to 3.48,847 units in April, from 3.35,629 units in the same month last year, said Society of Indian Automobile Manufacturers on Thursday.

Vehicles of the Nut continued to contribute the most to the total PV sales with 2.01,062 units, a growth of 12 percent compared to 1,79.329 units in April 2024.

The total turnover of two -wheelers, however, fell by 17 percent JoJ to 14.58.784 units of 17.51,393 units in April 2024, due to a high basic effect.

While the sale of the motorcycle in April fell by 23 percent to 8.71,666 units in April from 11.28.192 units in April 2024, the scooter turnover fell by 6 percent to 5.48.370 units of 5.81.277 units in the same month last year.

The bad show was mainly due to the decrease in sale by market leaders Hero Motocorp, Honda Motorcycle & Scooter India and Bajaj Auto that fails with 44 percent, 12 percent and 13 percent respectively.

Hero Motocorp had said that it has implemented a temporary production of April 17-19 in his Dharuhera, Gurugram, Haridwar and Neemrana facilities to facilitate the alignment of the Supply Chain and to perform planned maintenance and infrastructure improvements.

The total sale of tricycle also fell marginal to 49,441 units in April compared to 49,774 units in the corresponding month last year, the monthly sales data that were shared.

The automotive industry went smoothly to the new regime regime of the second phase of built-in diagnostics (OBD) 2 regulation for two and tricycles from April 2025, in addition to rolling out E-20-compliant conforming petrol vehicles from this month, Menon added.
