PSG legend Jay-Jay Okocha has praised his former club after having demanded a stunning 5-0 victory over Inter Milan in the UEFA Champions League final on Saturday evening.
The Nigerian football Great, who played for PSG from 1998 to 2002, spoke with TNT -Sport shortly after the last whistle and shared his joy when he first saw the club lifting the famous trophy in their history.
“It’s great,” said Okocha. “The way they did it – they made it look so easy. They had a good plan and it worked perfectly. They really deserved it.”
Okocha admitted that he did not expect such a one -sided result.
“I predicted 2–1, but what does it matter? What is it doing. It is won. It is the first time in the club’s history, and I think it is a great moment for football.”
The former Super Eagles captain was particularly impressed by the attacking players of PSG.
“That was the most important difference. They used their individual skills to help the team. They kept the ball good, restless interim and always looked like they could create something.”
When asked how he would fit into today’s fast PSG attack, laughed Okocha and answered:
“I would not have had a choice! If you play with great players, they will also make you look good.”
He added that the strong working ethics of the players had a major impact.
“They worked very hard. But if things go well, you don’t mind making extra efforts for the team. That is exactly what they did.”
Okocha also praised the influence of the PSG manager and emphasized how the team played as one.
“The coach made them understand that football is a team game. No matter how talented you are, if you don’t play for the team, you won nothing. And they proven that tonight.”
Okocha ended the interview by participating in the celebrations on the field, clearly proud to see that PSG’s dream came true.
