US President Donald Trump spoke on Sunday about the much -discussed upcoming trade agreements between the United States and other countries, including India. He said that letters with regard to these trade agreements will go out from Monday.“We are going to broadcast letters on Monday and have to deal with the trade agreements … it can be no less than 15 or so. They go out on Monday and some go out on Tuesday and Wednesday and we have also concluded deals. So we are going to have a combination of letters and some deals are closed,” Trump said.These comments come just before the deadline of July 9, which marks the end of a 90-day suspension on rates from Trump era. After this date, a 26% additional import duties are expected to apply to goods from countries such as India that enter the US.The Trump administration increases the pressure on trading partners to quickly reach agreements before Wednesday. From Monday, the US is planning to send official letters that warn that higher rates can start from 1 August.Trump added: “We did most countries on July 9 – a letter or a deal.”Commerce Secretary Howard Lutnick, who stands next to Trump, said to reporters: “The president is in the middle of discussing all kinds of deals with all kinds of countries.” He confirmed that if no similarities are reached, the new rates will take effect on 1 August.
