Ronnie O’Sullivan believes that Judd Trump is the clear favorite to win the World Snooker Championship.
O’Sullivan wants to win a record of eighth world title on the Crucible this year and has set up an early marker with an impressive 10-4 victory over Ali Carter in the first round.
In the meantime, Trump strives for victory at the World Snooker Championship for the second time in his career after he won his first title in 2019.
The 35-year-old, currently in no. 1 in the world, reached three World Snooker Championship Finals, but was beaten in 2011 by John Higgins and O’Sullivan in 2022.
This week Trump also achieved the first round after beating the Chinese Zhou Yuelong 10-4, but he is confronted with a difficult test in the second round against Shaun Murphy, who won the Masters in January.
But O’Sullivan feels that Trump remains the striking player at the tournament and claims that title defender Kyren Wilson, who was eliminated by Lei Peifan in the first round, was the ‘only danger’ of the world no. 1.

Asked if Trump is the player who defeated this year at the World Snooker Championship, O’Sullivan told TNT Sports: ‘A million percent.
‘For me his only danger was Kyren Wilson, because Kyren comes together well with Judd, he enjoys that match game, you know that Snooker looks a bit like golf match game, you don’t play the course, you sometimes play the opponent.
‘I think Kyren is probably one of the few top players who enjoy playing Judd and I think it is making a really good game.

“There are still many other good players in this tournament that Judd can give a game, but he is definitely the favorite of the right.”
When asked if he would consider himself a favorite after beating Carter, O’Sullivan replied: ‘It is very difficult if you are yourself and you do not look into what is going on, I can see what is going on with everyone.
‘But when it comes to you, you just don’t see how everyone sees it.
‘Listen, it’s okay to play a good session, if there are 15 sessions in the tournament, I don’t know how many there are, you have to play at least 10 good play and you can have five mediocre.
“That has been my struggle. It is just finding a good consistency. So if I can find a little bit of it, it will give me a little more conviction. ‘
