Maxxi becomes a National Monument and inaugurates five new exhibitions – Rome – Arte.it

Roma – The new season of the National Museum of the Arts of the 21st Century, fifteen years after the foundation, opens with an important goal and with five large exhibitions.
Officially chosen in the national monument, the iconic building built by Zaha Hadid entirely in the Italian cultural heritage, with a specific protection that was aimed at guaranteeing the preservation and improvement over time.

Inaugurate from 30 May to 26 October Stadiums. Architecture and mythThe large exhibition of the architecture department that makes the temples of sport speak, the symbol of passions and emotions (edited by Manuel Orazi, Fabio Salomoni and Moira Valeri). The public will be invited to discover 54 stadium projects from all over the world, ideas to talk about society, economy, politics, anthropology, city planning, art and culture. In addition to Football Memorabilia, historical posters, drawings, documents, photos, works by Tato, Bruno Munari and Titina Maselli will meet, the photos of Luigi Ghirri and Henri Cartier-Bresson, Takashi Hommas, Olivo Barbieri and Video-installations by Yureno.

The encyclopedic vision of the entire film work by the Scottish artist Douglas Gordon, one of the most influential protagonists of the contemporary video art scene, takes shape until November 23, to the exhibition Douglas Gordon. Hospital In the Scenic Gallery 5 of Maxxi, the installation evokes a private video archive, so that space is left for a free view of the individual works and an in -depth analysis of the themes that characterize its works. A monumental tree/chandelier 7 meters high, with its long hair made with fishing networks, is the center of which an environment must be explored and to be lived thanks to the surprising furniture that can be used by the audience (edited by Martina Muzi). This is the Nacho Carbonell project Memory, in practice, Who inaugurates the first edition of Revenue, the new Maxxi Multi -Year program dedicated to Design that makes the entry of the museum.

Finally, two insights are planned for the Maxxi archives. The first is a tribute to the Pieroni Gallery, a reference point for Italian art between the seventies and nineties with the two historic offices of Pescara and Rome. The second, on the road until 31 August, was produced in collaboration with the Academy of France in Rome – Villa Medici devoted to the work of Enrico del Debbio and in particular on the monumental complex of the Foro Italico, the largest project that it has committed for more than 40 years.
Del Debbio designed an architectural landscape work in which the buildings would interact with the surrounding nature, and where marble would have been the protagonist in the elaboration of a personal poetics in balance between classicism and modernity.
