“Love Island USA” participant Yulissa Escobar broke her silence over her sudden output From the show.
After he had fallen out of the reality dating series in episode 2, Escobar went to Instagram Friday To tackle speculation about her departure and to apologize.
The departure of Escobar was linked to a return she received for the use of racist language on podcasts from the past. The controversial clips Popped up on social media after Escobar was announced as a cast member of season 7.
In her Instagram post, Escobar said that she “wanted to apologize for the use of a word I hadn’t used.”
“Podcast clips from years ago have recently appeared again and I want to tackle it directly,” she wrote. “In those clips I used a word that I should never have used, a racial blemish. I used it ignorant, not fully understood the weight, history or pain behind it. I tried not to be offensive or harmful, but I now acknowledge that the intention has no impact. And the impact of that word is really to be used.”
Escobar explained that she used the racial blemish when she “spoke casually in conversation” and she didn’t think “deep or critically about what I said”.
“But that does not like how wrong it was. The truth is, I didn’t know better then, but I am doing that now,” she said. “I have taken the time to think, learn and grow from that moment.”
Escobar further said that “a lot has changed” since she did those podcasts. She noted that she appears differently for others and also speaks differently.
“Growth means acknowledging when you were wrong, even when it is uncomfortable and chooses to continue with humility and accountability,” she said.
The 27-year-old then ended her statement by saying that she takes “full ownership of my actions” and she again apologized to anyone who was “disappointed or offended” by her words.
Online she shared her statement alongside a personal quote of herself, that said, “possessing my mistakes that spoke to my truth.”
Escobar was introduced as a cast member For season 7 of “Love Island USA” in May.
In one Teaser video That Peacock shared on YouTube, Escobar said she was enthusiastic to be in the show after her previous “nine -year relationship” ended in the heartache.
“I want my husband to cherish me,” she said.
In the premiere episode of the series, Escobar linked Ace Green. While they investigated their love connection, the series of narrator Iain Stirling -Zarkers inquired that Escobar no longer participated in the program in an announcement he did in the second episode.
