A sip of wine. A desire for pizza. A full calendar.
These may seem harmless aspects of life – but a scientist has revealed how he could put you on to develop cancer.
Dr. Raphael Cuomo, a University of California, San Diego Medical Professor, claims that chronic stress, fast food and alcohol and drugs are an near-Zurefire way to set up for a diagnosis of cancer at a later age.
In his new book, Crazy: the hidden biology of addiction and cancer, The expert noted that the repetitive desire of the body to enjoy junk food and addictive behavior drives the body to the fatal state.
The professor told DailyMail.com: ‘Crave reveals how modern habits such as vapen, binge eating and daily cannabis are used to hijack our biology.
‘These behaviors quietly damage the power of the body to repair themselves. After a while they open the door to cancer. It’s not about genetics or bad luck. It’s about the choices we make every day. ‘
More than 600,000 Americans and more than 150,000 Britons die from different cancers every year.
From 2025, the American Cancer Society estimates that more than 2 million new cancer cases are diagnosed every year.
After studying ‘millions of patient records’ from the hospitals of the University of California and spending months on assessing studies for cancer biology, Dr. Cuomo which he says that the top habits are most likely to cause cancer.

Fast food
The expert called Fastfood ‘slow poison’ – and noted that its effects cannot be seen immediately, but can cause damage in the long term.
Earlier this year, researchers tested more than 300 foods that were sold at restaurant chains and in supermarkets throughout America on two microscopic toxins that are linked to cancer, infertility and autism.
They discovered that of all fast food restaurants, the Sweetgreen and Starbucks saladets scored the poorest.
Sweetgreen’s Chicken Pesto Parms Salad and the Matcha Latte from Starbucks turned out to contain the highest amount of phthalates, a group of chemicals used to make artificial fabrics more flexible and transparent.
Phthalates are often used in food packaging materials and sTudies have shown that they imitate the hormones of the body and disrupt the production of – and reaction to – natural hormones such as estrogen and testosterone.
Some phthalates are linked to certain cancers, especially breast cancer and lymphoma.
Dr. Cuomo, however, pointed to fiber consumption as a crucial part of reversing damage because it can help improve the intestinal bacteria, reduce inflammation and keeping cells healthy.

Smoking and drinking
Smoking causes around 30 percent of the total cancer in the US and is an important cause of lung, brain, neck and bladder cancer.
Alcohol consumption is linked to an increased risk of different types of cancer, including breast, intestinal, liver and esophageal cancer. About 20,000 people die annually from alcohol -related cancers.
Researchers in Germany discovered that a combination of drinking and smoking considerably increases the risk of colon cancer in young Americans.

They analyzed two dozen studies in which regular drinkers and smokers were compared to people who have abstained from both.
Only 100 cigarettes in a person’s life – the equivalent of one per week for two years – was linked to a 59 percent higher risk of bowel cancer compared to people who have never smoked.
They also discovered that drinking alcohol increased the risk every day to develop colon cancer with early start by 39 percent, even if it is only one or two drinks a day.
In the past, alcohol and smoking are both linked to cancer, because they release chemicals that destroy DNA and ensure that cells mutate.

And every can of beer or glass of wine per day increased the chance with an extra Two percent.
In his book, the professor noted that deep sleep is the ‘most underrated tool’ to improve damage caused by addictions, such as smoking and drinking.
He explained that the body performs critical tasks during consistent deep sleep, such as repairing tissues, regulating hormones, consolidating memory and cleaning up metabolic waste.
Tension
A study from 2024 presented in the United European Gastroenterology Week by a group of Chinese researchers noted that a combination of chronic stress and anxiety is linked to colorectal cancer in young people.
They explained when a body is under frequent stress, a number of healthy bacteria that live in the intestine, start to die, making it easier for cancer to withdraw.
When these bacteria die, tumors grow faster, leading to more aggressive, fast -growing colorectal cancers.

Research from Trinity College in Ireland has suggested that these bacteria can support the body’s immune system, to protect against virus and bacteria and prevent damage in intestinal cells.
Apart from this, chronic stress can lead to increased levels of cortisol and other stress hormones in the body that can promote the growth of cancer and its spread to different parts of the body.
A constant state of stress can also weaken the power of the immune system to effectively combat cancer cells.
Dr. Cuomo, however, believes that there are ways to get rid of all addictions and to prevent the development of cancer in the body.
He told DailyMail.com: ‘The real threat is not a any cocktail or slice of cake. It is the desire that you keep bringing back.
“That desire is what the defense of your body wears out. I tell people to test their control.
‘Start with a week of abstinence. Not forever. Only seven days. That short reset reveals a lot.
‘You learn what your body depends on. At that time, concentrate on physical recovery. Sleep deep. Move your body. Eat real food.
‘Spend time with people you trust. Addiction thrives separately. Recovery starts with reconnection. ‘
Moreover, Dr. Cuomo for making some form of movement, such as taking regular walks.
