Comedian Samay Raina appeared for Maharashtra Cyber Police in Navi Mumbai on Monday, weeks after he was called in connection with the Latent Case of India, officials said. In his statement, Raina regrets his comments about the show. He admitted his mistake and stated that everything happened in the stream of the show and that he was not going to say what he said.

In his statement, Raina assured that he would be careful to ensure that such incidents no longer happen. He also said that the controversy had hit his mental state and added that his tour in Canada was not going well.

“I have a deep regret of what I said. It happened in the stream of the show, and I didn’t intend to say it,” he said.

“I realize that what I said was wrong,” he added.

The Maharashtra Cyber Police has refused Raina’s earlier request to record his statement via video conferences, which means that he must personally appear as part of an ongoing investigation with the Mumbai police.

The case stems from comments from YouTuber Ranveer Allahbadia at the show of Raina, India’s Got Latent, which led to a complaint about obscenity. The cyber police registered a FIR and called on around 50 people with the program.

Last month Allahbadia and YouTuber Ashish Chanchlani were interviewed for almost five hours. Both had initially skipped summons, but later appeared separately at the Cyber Police head office in Navi Mumbai.
