Health authorities in India monitor reports of an increase in Covid cases in Singapore and Hong Kong, even when official sources claimed on Monday that the current coronavirus situation in the country was under control.
An assessment meeting of experts from the National Center for Disease Control, Emergency Medical Relief Division, Disaster Management Cell, Indian Council of Medical Research and Central Government Hospitals was held on Monday under the chairmanship of the Director General of Health Services.
“The meeting concluded that the current COVID-19 situation in India will remain under control. From 19 May 2025 the number of active COVID-19 cases in India is on 257, a very low figure given the large population of the country.
“Almost all of these cases are mild, without hospitalization,” said an official source.
The country has a robust system for supervision of viral respiratory diseases, including COVID-19, via the Integrated Disease Surveillance Program (IDSP) and ICMR.
Hospitals have been asked to control flu -like diseases and severe acute respiratory infections.
The Health Minister of the Union remains vigilant and proactive in the closure of the situation, so that there are suitable measures to protect public health, the sources added.
