While the summer trips rises, Airbnb is once again activating its anti-party technology in the United States to scare up potentially disruptive bookings about Memorial

Airbnb announced on 19 May 2025 that it will again activate its anti-party technology in the United States for the weekends of Memorial Day and Fourth of Fourth of July. This marks the fourth consecutive year that the company has deployed this defense to reduce the risk of unauthorized parties on the platform.

The anti-party system is designed to identify and block certain bookings of one to two and night of complete home statements that can pose a higher risk for a disturbing party. The technology regards several factors, including the type of list, duration of stay, the proximity of the guest to the building and whether the booking is last-minute. If a booking is blocked, the guest can still book other accommodations on the platform.

In 2024, Airbnb’s anti-party weather blocked around 51,000 people in the US to book entire home statements during the summer holidays. This included:

  • About 7,750 people in Texas

  • About 7,400 people in Florida

  • About 7,030 people in California

According to Airbnb: “Although incidents of disruptive parties on Airbnb are rare, we are committed to working to reduce the risk and help hosts to promote positive experiences in their homes and local neighborhoods.”

The company notes that the anti-party system “is part of a wider set of tools and policy that Airbnb uses responsible journeys and helping hosts to protect their spaces, especially at times when the demand is higher and the potential for disruption can increase.”

These defenses work in addition to Airbnb’s Global Reservation Screening Technology, which is active all year round. This system “uses Machine Learning to try to deter and shock bookings with higher risks in the US worldwide.”

Airbnb reports that “since 2020, when we introduced our global party prohibition policy, we are falling more than 50 percent in the percentage of party reports to us in the US.” In 2024, the company states that “less than about 0.06 percent of Airbnb reservations resulted in a party report in the US.”

Additional resources that Airbnb offers to promote responsible journeys and to support hosts and communities include:

  • Tips for hosts about the prevention of parties in their mention

  • District support line for local communities to report urgent issues directly to us, such as a party in progress at a house that they think it is on Airbnb

  • 24-hour safety line for hosts and guests to reach our safety team directly for support

  • Free sound sensor for hosts, who can help to stay ahead of problems before they start respecting the guest privacy

  • Support for law enforcement via a special channel and specialized response team, in the rare event of a problem that may include an Airbnb list or stay

These combined systems and tools are designed to help Airbnb-Gastheren “protect their homes and peace of mind from the neighbors”, especially during periods of demand, such as national holidays.
