Bengals Defense End of Shemar Stewart looks up during the Bengals Rookie Mini Camp on Friday, May 9, 2025 at Paycor Stadium in Cincinnati.

Bengalen not signed first round Concept Pick Shemar Stewart has left the mandatory mini camp in Cincinnati, several media reported on Thursday.

According to De Cincinnati Enquirer, Stewart left the camp not to be a distraction for the other players.

Stewart, 21, had attended voluntary workouts and team meetings, but remained away from participating in activities on the field. The Bengal selected the Texas A&M defensive end with the 17th general choice of the 2025 NFL Draft.

Stewart does not intend to sign with the Bengal until they adjust the language in their contract offer to match the sketch of the contracts signed by the previous two -round selections of the team (Myles Murphy and Amarius Mims).

“I did this most of my entire life, and then it is suddenly something very simple to repair,” Stewart told reporters on Tuesday. “It’s a bit disappointing.”

Bengals coach Zac Taylor spoke with the media about Stewart after the training Thursday.

“For all the rookies you would like them to be on the field, but there are certainly things that happen in the course of an NFL career and this is now one of them,” Taylor said that Stewart missed the preparation time. “So he has been in the meetings. He has been positive in this way. He learned. He has been a good student and we look at him soon to get back on the field.”

Taylor said he did not know how the contract process would progress and would not be guessed whether Stewart would be with the team when Camp will open next month.

“I’m not going to make predictions,” he said.
