In recent offseasons, the cheat code of the Vikings has involved in continuing a free agency in a way in which the collection of design capital involves.
No, the approach has not been involved in exchanging players to get picks. Instead, Kwesi Adofo-Mensah is willing to let other teams bother him for his own players, so that compensatory selections are placed in the pocket of Minnesota. You wonder if the same chance will arise after the following season.
The Vikings’ Cheat Code: Comp Picks
A large part of the issue is the NFL design of 2022.
Yes, I know there are a lot that are tired of throwing more gas on that tire fire, but stay with me with me. The concept class of the ten-person of the Vikings should be in Minnesota at the end of their Rookie contracts. Theoretically, that could be that ten players go into contracting years, ten players who are able to sign lucrative second contracts in March, so that the Vikings could get a comp -pick or two.
Instead, only a trio of players remain; Even worse, a few of those players – Brian Asamoah and Ty Chandler – could reasonably be cut in August. The last man who stands can be jalen nailor, someone who has proved an excellent choice as a 6th round receiver.
Janik Eckardt recently discussed Nailor and noted that the Young Pass Catcher built up his body while moving a contract year.
“As mentioned earlier,” Eckardt, “Nailor will go in a sample year. In 2026, teams will look at the available Wideouts and put price tags on them. Another 400-Yard season can make him a few million, but no one broke the bank for a 27-year-old with 1,000 career-receiving yards.”
Imagine a different result instead: a season in which Nailor continues his climb, picks up explosive yards, while he appears to be excellent in scoring touchdowns (he bite 6 last year, a strong amount considering his role). Is there a chance that he can demand a contract that is large enough to generate a compensatory choice?
Take a look around to see who else comes at the end of their contract.
For example, Josh Oliver starts the last season of his contract. He will be 29 in March 29, which means that he is probably approaching the end of his career, but is not ready to enter the geriatric unity. It is conceivable that a team can send a medium -sized deal to the blocking bully that is a better athlete than people realize.
Other options are Josh Metellus, Jeff Okudah, Justin Skule and Rondale Moore (a few others under possible). Start with the most obvious issue: Metellus is an almost certainty to be expandedA free agent departure from the table.
The other players all work in deals of one season. The most important uncertainty is based in the question of whether those boys can elevate their play in an important way. If that is the case, they can demand very likely good money on the open market, because they each have some young people left (Skule is a bit older – late 20s – but Lineman often ages other than skills).
Minnesota should of course also be willing to let those guys walk away, something that can still be seen.
Otherwise, the players who reach at the end of their deals seem to probably not drive large deals, such as Asamoah, Chandler and CJ Ham (including). Also keep in mind that players that are cut, do not take into account the compensatory picks mix, so it is not as if Kwesi Adofo-Mensah can go on a cutting blend in an attempt to give him more opportunities on SUCPicks.
The cheat code of the Vikingen has been very useful lately. Kirk Cousins left a 3rd round pick to leave. The best gamble is that Sam Darnold, Cam Robinson and Trent Sherfield will lead to a 3rd, 5th and 7th arrival next year (See OTC).
Minnesota probably does not seem to go on an edition in next year’s free agency. Even yet, the shot to get comp -picks is not super high because of the lack of strong talent that goes into the last year of their deals.
