Ukraine is launching ‘large-scale’ drone raids on Russian air bases on the eve of cease-fire interviews

Ukraine says that Russian bombers destroyed worth billions of dollars in a “large-scale” drone attack on enemy land, while it was preparing for conversations with Russian counterparts to explore prospects for a cease-fire.
Ukraine claimed that the US $ 7 billion ($ 10.8 billion) in Russian planes had been damaged with four air base thousands of kilometers away, with non -rejected video images with aircraft flooded in flames and black smoke.
A source in the Ukrainian security services said the drones were hidden in the ceilings of sea containers, which were opened to release them for the attack.

The long -planned operation arrived at a delicate moment three years after the Russia invasion.
Zenskyy said he sent a delegation to Istanbul under the leadership of his Minister of Defense Rustem Umerov for conversations this week with Russian officials.
Zenskyyy, who previously expressed skepticism about whether Russia was serious about proposing this week’s meeting, said he had defined the position of the Ukrainian delegation.

Priorities include “a complete and unconditional ceases -the fire” and the return of prisoners and kidnapped children, he said on social media.

Russia has rejected earlier requirements of the ceasefires.
It said it formulated its own peace conditions, but refused to announce them in advance. Russian President Vladimir Putin excluded a Turkish proposal for the leaders of the two countries to attend the meeting.

Russian press agencies said that the Russian delegation was on their way to Istanbul for the conversations.

A source in the SBU of Ukraine said that the coordinated attacks in Russia “were aimed at destroying enemy bombers far from the front”.
Rybar, an account about the Telegram reports platform close to the Russian army, described it as a “very heavy blow” for Russia and pointed to what the “serious mistakes” called by Russian information.
The SBU source said that strikes focused on Russian air bases in the eastern Siberian city of Belaya, in Olenya, in the North Pole area near Finland, and in Ivanovo and Dyagilevo, both east of Moscow.

More than 40 planes were struck on the Belaya -based and a fire was broken, said the source, with a non -rewarded video in which different planes were shown in flames and black smoke.

An SBU statement on the telegram -app -app estimated the damage caused by attacks at US $ 7 billion ($ 10.8 billion).

A Ukrainian security officer, who spoke to Reuters on condition of anonymity, said that 41 Russian war aircraft were being hit.
The Russian Ministry of Defense confirmed on Telegram that several of his military aircraft “caught fire”, adding that there were no victims and that different “participants” had been arrested.
Igor Kobzev, governor of the Irkutsk region in Russia, which houses the intended Belaya air base, said it was “the first attack of this kind in Siberia”.

He called on the population not to panic and placed an amateur video that apparently showed a drone that flies in the air and a large cloud of gray smoke.

Andrey Chibis, the governor of the Murmansk region, where the Olenya base is located, also stated that “enemy drones” flew over the head and that anti-aircraft defenses were operational.
Russia has announced the Ukrainian drone attacks almost a day, usually saying that they had all been shot. But it was rare that such drone attacks were reported so deep in its territory.
At the same time, Russia has made constant attacks on Ukraine.
Russian shootings and an air strike killed four people in areas outside the Southeast Ukrainian city of Zaporizhzhia, the regional governor said this weekend.

Ukraine Air Force said it was hit by 472 Russian drones and seven rockets at night – a record since the start of the invasion.

In a rare recognition of his military losses, the Ukrainian army said that Russia’s rocket strike at the location of one of the training units “had killed a dozen soldiers, most of whom had been in hiding places and more than 60 were injured.

Explosions fell bridges

Separately in the weekend, the Russian army said that it had caught another village in the Noord -Sumy region in Ukraine, where Ukraine fears that Russia could set up a new land attack.
Russia claims to have recorded various settlements in the region in recent weeks and, according to Zenskyy, has more than 50,000 soldiers on the other side of the border.
Authorities in the region have evacuated more than 200 villages in the middle of an intensified shelling.

In Russia, civil servants said that an explosion borders a road bridge in the Bryansk region on Ukraine, who derailed a passenger train on their way to Moscow and killed seven people.

A separate railway bridge in the neighboring Kursk region was also blown up, which derailed a freight train and injured the driver.
Authorities did not say who was behind the explosions, but researchers said that a criminal investigation was underway.
