President Donald Trump of the United States has launched military strikes against the Houthis van Jemen about the attacks of the group on the Red Sea, warning “Hell Will Rain On You” if the Houthis do not leave their campaign.
Trump on Sunday Aedt also warned Iran, the most important backer of the Houthis, that it had to stop the support of the group immediately.
He said that if Iran threatened the US: “America will keep you fully responsible and we will not be nice about it!”
According to the Ministry of Health, at least nine civilians were killed and nine injured in American strikes on the Sanaa of Yemen.
Residents in Sanaa said the strikes hit a building in a stronghold of the militant Houthi group.
“The explosions were violent and shake the neighborhood as an earthquake. They made our women and children terrified,” one of the residents told his name as Abdullah Yahia, to Reuters.
The Houthis launched more than 100 attacks on shipping from November 2023 and said they were in solidarity with Palestinians about the war in Hamas-Israel in Gaza.
During that period, the group sank two ships, grabbed another and killed at least four seafarers in an offensive that disrupted global shipping, forcing companies to rouge again to longer and more expensive journeys in South Africa.
The previous US government of President Joe Biden had tried the ability of the Houthis to attack ships off his coast, relegated, but limited American actions.
“The Houthi attack on American ships will not be tolerated. We will use overwhelming deadly power until we have achieved our goal,” Trump wrote on Sunday.
The attack marks the first strikes to hit Yemen since the ceasefared -the proceeding in January came into effect.
It also came a few days after the Houthis said they would resume attacks on Israeli ships that passed through the red and Arab seas, the Bab al-Mandab street and the Gulf of Aden, ending a period of relative calmness in January with the ceasefire of Gaza.
