I have given up to get a PS5 and I have already received real worries about PS6

The PS5 is already in line for a replacement (Sony Interactive Entertainment)

A reader explains why they never received a PS5 and how they fear that the PS6 will suffer from all the same issues that have convinced them not to upgrade a PS4.

I am usually not what you would call an early adopteur. Like most of us, I always have a huge backlog of games, but I am also not a big fan of being a guinea pig for companies, if there is a problem with the hardware. But most of the time it is just because there is usually not much interest in the launch and if you wait a few years, it will also be cheaper.

I am one of those people who still play my PlayStation 4.

The problem now is that there is already the PlayStation 6 and yet at the same time there is no sign that Sony is going back to something near how they used to make games. So even if I got the PlayStation 6 on the first day, to skip a generation, I am not sure if we will be in a better situation.

They say that Microsoft tries to kill the concept of exclusives, but for me Sony is doing much more damage, simply because nobody has an Xbox, so it doesn’t really matter what they do. But PlayStation 5 is the standard console of the generation and the only thing it does is to learn Sony that they do not need an exclusive to sell their consoles. And if they don’t need them, nobody else will do that too (except Nintendo, but I will get it that way).

If that is the obvious lesson of the PlayStation 5, and it does not show a sign of changing, why would it be different on PlayStation 6? From a Sony’s perspective, it just makes no sense to spend hundreds of millions of dollars on making an AAA game, just to make a small profit or even a loss-as happened to Spider-Man 2.

They continue to make live service games, I know for sure, but they will all be one or soon after PC day. Anyway, the idea that exclusives sell consoles is being demolished.

I am not the first to point this out and the usual solution that I see from other people is a PC or a switch (2 now, I think). But I don’t want either. I respect Nintendo – more than I respect Sony – but I still don’t really like most of their games. And I hate to constantly have to upgrade a PC and the general difficulty to make games work on it and the fact that they were not optimized well afterwards.

Maybe I will have to force myself to learn to live with a PC, but I think this is the heart of the problem for many people-I was very happy with my PlayStation 4. The images were great, the line-up of games was fantastic and it had a lot of top exclusives.

For me it was the perfect console and it did not have to be replaced, not for the meager improvements offered by the PlayStation 5. But if they did it, it had to learn all the tricks of the PlayStation 5 and strengthen them. Instead, it tore them out and pulled them in the dirt.

I see no reason to believe that the PlayStation 6 will be different and that worries me. Not only because of the console itself, but whether I don’t want to tolerate my love for gaming, Sony’s nonsense. In my opinion it is all their fault, and I cannot believe that I am the only one who is very detached to feel through the entire PlayStation brand.
