Experts sound alarm about the dangers of the raw meat diet of the Liver King, warning that it may have contributed to his recent whimsical behavior.
Brian Johnson, 48, known online as the Liver King, was arrested this week after he had launched a manic tirade on Instagram.
He posted dozens of disturbing videos: Crazy about fighting Joe Rogan, giving himself a coffee enema and seems to talk to himself.
Johnson built his brand on eating raw organ meats, including bone marrow, testicles, heart and soul – a diet that he claims promotes primary masculinity and peak performance.
But doctors say that this extreme regime, combined with Johnson’s permitted use of $ 11,000 in anabolic steroids per month, could explain his psychological breakdown.
Eating non -cooking or raw meat increases the risk of exposure to harmful bacteria and parasites, said Maura Fowler, an expert in Florida -based dietician and public health.
‘[These parasites] Can lead to serious circumstances, where their larvae form cysts, directly in brain tissue. ‘
Left untreated, they can cause brain infections that lead to “attacks and in -depth changes in someone’s personality,” said registered dietician Kaytee Hadley.
Johnson’s 2.9 million Instagram followers have flooded his commentary in which he encouraged him to ‘get help’ while he shared dozens of videos that rage about fighting Joe Rogan
Moreover, anabolic steroids are strongly linked to psychiatric side effects such as mania, aggression and delusions.
The experts said that the combination of steroid abuse and a parasitic infection could have worsened side effects.
The liver king became famous at the end of 2021 with its ‘primordial, ancestral lifestyle’ aimed at the consumption of raw meat, in particular liver, and his claims to be a ‘natural’ athlete.
He was later forced to admit that he used excessive amount of steroids after leaked e -mails revealed the secret behind his physique.
“The conviction that raw meat offers superior food compared to well -boiled meat is very clear,” Hadley said the Daily Mail.

“Harmful parasites such as Taenia Solium, known as the tapeworm of the pork, can lead to serious conditions such as neurocysticercosis, where their larvae cysts form directly in brain tissue.”
Studies have shown that eating any type of meat that is raw or not cooked increases the risk of taking living parasites or their eggs, that can come out and spread in the human body.
While all not – picked meat forms some risk, pork, lamb and wild game – such as deer, wild boar and bears – belong to the most notorious for parasite contamination.
“Trichinellosis is a parasite that is found in raw or not done meat,” Fowler often explained wild game and pork.
‘This infection starts in the stomach and moves through the body through the bloodstream, possibly leading to the brain, causing brain swelling. Brain swelling can lead to attacks or confusion. ‘

Brian Johnson, better known for his online persona as the Liver King, went on a manic tirade on Instagram, where he shared dozens of videos of himself raging about fighting against Rogan

According to Maura Fowler, a dietic and public health expert in Florida, eating non -cooking and raw meat can release the way for the development of parasites in the brain (image for representation)
She also pointed to studies that suggest a broader connection between parasites and mental health.
‘An investigation into Kanken.org reported that the toxoplasma -gondii parasite, which comes from non -nominous meat or shellfish from infected animals, can cause an infection in the brain and is linked to cognitive function and behavioral disorders.
“This has also shown a possible link with brain cancer (brain tumors of glioma) in some infected individuals.”
Although parasitic infections can take time to influence the brain and other organs, excessive use of steroids can cause large cognitive and behavioral changes in just a few months.
Anabolic steroids – synthetic versions of testosterone – are often abused by bodybuilders, athletes and influencers who want to improve muscle growth and performance.
Experts warn that these drugs are often taken in doses up to 10 times higher than those used medically.
Side effects can be delusions, mood swings, blood clots, high blood pressure and even strokes. In particular, Hadley said that they can lead to behavioral changes such as “increased aggression, paranoia and unstable moods.”
“If a parasitic brain infection is combined with behavioral problems induced by steroid, this can result in a complex and severe representation of changed thinking and abnormal behavior (such as manic episodes),” she added.

Johnson (seen in his mugshot) was accused of making terrorist threats, a crime, and received a bond of $ 20,000 – which he later paid off
Fowler also noted that increased aggression is a known side effect, adding that a parasite of the nervous system could worsen the damage.
“Anabolic steroids can also cause immunosuppressive effects and reduce the number of cells and their functions, especially in abuse and used in higher doses,” Fowler adds.
“Parasitic infections can be more serious in persons who are immunocromitated, including individuals who abuse anabolic steroids.”
Johnson was arrested on Tuesday in Austin after a few days of placing threats aimed at Podcaster Joe Rogan. He was accused of making terrorist threats and released on a $ 20,000 bail.
Rogan, who responds to the incident, reportedly said the police that Johnson “seems to be considerably unstable and seems as if he needs help.”
Johnson did not respond to the Daily Mail request for comments.
