He can get support from NBA Commissioner Adam Silver for one of the changes.
LeBron James has some rule changes that he thinks would improve the game.
During a recent episode of his podcast, Note the game“ The basketball legend discussed the rules that the FIBA (International Basketball Federation) has for his competitions with his fellow guesthouse, former NBA player Steve Nash.
He said that the NBA, which plays a 48-minute game, could take a signal from the length of FIBA games.
“The 40 -minute game is intriguing,” James told Nash. “Because the game happens so damn fast … and there is no relaxation of an international game. That gives it a bit more a sense of urgency. That is something to discuss. That would be something we might have a conversation about. It would be difficult because you were starting to mess with the history of the game and all things like that.”
James would also like the competition to change the target pulling rules. International rules enable players to touch the ball and/or defend when it touches the edge. The NBA forbids a defender to touch the ball while it comes to the basket, as it is in the air. The player cannot touch the ball while it is above the edge or on the edge.
“I am very intrigued with the target rule. I really love it. It is exciting. It doesn’t happen as much as you would think.”
OneArlier this year said NBA commissioner Adam Silver that he might be in favor of having 40 minutes of matches while he appears on the And Patrick Show.
“Something else that I am a fan of, and I am probably in the minority, because we are more involved in worldwide basketball, the NBA is the only competition that plays 48 minutes,” Silver said, according to Sports illustrated. “I am a fan of four quarters of 10 minutes. I am not sure if many others are.”
Well, LeBron James is!
