Bruising without an explanation should never be ignored, because it can be a little known sign of fatal blood cancer, a doctor has warned.
According to GP Dr Sremed Mezher, the small purple, brownish markings can in fact indicate a series of hidden diseases, including thyroid disorders and liver failure.
In an Instagram clip placed on Dr. Mezher’s Page, where he has more than 349,000 followers, he unveiled a picture of the legs of a woman who illustrated the type of bruises to pay attention to.
“Bruising without a clear explanation – such as not remembering an injury or impact – is a potential sign that something more serious can be under the surface and should not be ignored,” he said in the video.
‘FRequired or serious bruises for no reason can be a red flag. ‘
Social Media users went to the commentary section to the warning of Dr. Mezher to echo.
“My father had little bruises over his legs (earlier) leukemia. May he rest in peace, “someone said.
Another, @nay_theposho, said: ‘For my diagnosis (acute t-cell leukemia at ten o’clock) I had all these strange things happened.
‘Mama remembers that I had started plump, but I had lost all the weight, so she didn’t think about it, nor of my many bruises since I was a clumsy child.
“Then my breathing became funny and I was seen four times before they officially diagnosed me.”
‘A very important sign that was missed was a strange purple bruise. Always be vigilant. ‘
Excessive bruises are common in blood cancer as a result of a deficiency in a type of blood cell called platelets, which help the blood to stink after an injury.
A lack of these cells means that the body cannot prevent blood vessels from bleeding under the skin, leading to bruising.
Other signs of blood cancer have been added fever, night sweat, weight loss, fatigue and swollen lymph nodes, Dr. Mezher.
Blood cancer is not the only potentially fatal condition bruising can be a sign of.
If it is accompanied by the yellowing of the skin and the whites of the eyes, it can also be a told of liver disease that kills more than 12,000 British and 50,000 Americans every year, he warned.
If you are inexplicable bruises accompanied by excessive bleeding, it can be a sign of a bleeding state that is thought that it is often not diagnosed
When the liver is damaged, it cannot produce sufficient amounts of proteins needed to help the blood clot.
Meanwhile, excessive bleeding from other areas such as the nasal heads or during menstrual periods, it can be a sign of a bleeding condition such as hemophilia.
This is when someone is susceptible to excessive bleeding because the body is unable to stain.
It is estimated that these conditions are 7,625 women and 4,310 men in the UK, but many thousands remain not diagnosed, according to the Haemophilia Society.
“If you can’t tolerate the cold either and arrive easily and are always tired, it can be a sign of a thyroid problem,” Dr. Mezher.
This is a medical condition that prevents the thyroid gland-the small, butterfly-shaped gland in the neck of making the right amount of hormones, leading to a series of symptoms, including muscle weakness, depression and brain fog.
It is estimated that one in 20 people in the UK has a thyroid problem, in which women are six times more likely to suffer from the condition than men.
“If you also have hypermobility or stretchable skin, it can be a sign of a connective tissue disease such as Ehlerers Danlos syndrome (which in rare cases can cause life-threatening complications),” he added.
‘Being evaluated by a healthcare provider can help exclude serious causes and ensure that if the treatment is needed, it starts early.
“Unexplained bruises is not something to clean up – it’s the way your body is to indicate that something might be wrong.”
