Democratic senator Alex Padilla of California said that he has serious questions for Kristi Name after secret service and FBI agents have violated him on the ground and fascinated him after trying to ask the Homeland Security’s secretary during a press conference in Los Angeles.
Padilla spoke with Dana Bash on CNNs Union On Sunday and responded to calls from some of his colleagues from Democratic Party who have called for a dismissal of call.
“That may not be my focus right now,” said Padilla. “But I think there are some serious questions. How does the cabinet secretary not know the senator from California when she enters Los Angeles? She came to the Senate at one point.”
The incident happened when called Los Angeles came after President Donald Trump had deployed the National Guard and the American Marines in California without the permission of Governor Gavin Newsom.
The deployment followed protests against raids through immigration and customs enforcement, which sometimes led to the destruction of ownership, such as set fire to Waymo self-driving vehicles.

Padilla, who has a senate office in the same building, introduced himself when he approached her. “I am Senator Alex Padilla, I have questions for the secretary,” said.
Name and law enforcement officials later claimed that he had not introduced himself.
Padilla had criticized the administration that exploits incidents in which about a dozen people were accused of violent crime to rationalize large -scale massive deportations and riots that have startled communities throughout the state.
Agents then started pushing back against him and brought him out of the press conference, then pulled him down and fascinated him.
Padilla told CNN that the actions of Homeland Security have consequences.
“How does the secretary of Homeland Security not know how to de-see the situation?” he said. “It’s because you can’t do that, or because they don’t want to, and it sets the tone. Donald Trump and secretary have called the tone for the Ministry of Interior Security and the entire administration in terms of escalation and extreme enforcement actions.”
Padilla was not arrested or accused of crimes. But he later said that the incident shows how easily federal agents can treat other people without official government titles.
The incident with Padilla is not the only time that the Trump government has escalated situations with democratic legislators.
Last week, Rep. Lamonica Mciver from New Jersey sued federal charges that accuses the Democratic representative of interfering with immigration officers outside a detention center in her state.
Padilla later appeared on CBS Confronted with the nation Where moderator Margaret Brennan asked him for polling, including from CBS, who showed that many of the public support mass deportations, an important part of the Trump’s 2024 campaign.
“It depends on how you ask the question,” said Padilla. “If you ask the same people,” do they think we should maintain the right process in the United States of America? ” The answer is overwhelming.
Padilla said that border protection mattered, just like creating a more orderly process for immigration.
“But we cannot forget the millions of residents of the long -term residents who are working here, pay taxes that raise families, buy houses that contribute to the power of our economy,” he said. “They deserve better.”
