The NFL concept is only a few hours away and sports books will probably bring the entire market down as soon as the broadcast starts, which means that gamblers have little time left to put the finishing touches on their card.
And although we know who is generally number 1, and there are huge favorites for each of the next three picks, there are still a number of interesting gambling options on the board when we approach the show.
Here are our best bets with opportunities that are still available from Thursday morning:
Best General Betting: More than 2.5 Quarterbacks in Round 1 (-110, Bet365)
This price may seem a bit fish -like, but let’s bite it.
Cam Ward goes number 1 generally to the Tennessee Titans, which means that you are in essence on whether both Shedeur Sanders and Jaxson Dart are picked in round 1.
Sanders was the favorite to go in general first when that market opened a year ago and was considered a lock for the top 10 until this week, so it feels logical to assume that he does not completely fall out of the round 1, even if there are not as many teams that need a quarterback in the back of the first round.
The browns, Giants, Jets Saints and Steelers are all candidates to select a quarterback in the early rounds, but it would also not be a huge shock to see the cowboys of dolphins go that route.
Even if the browns, Giants, Jets and Saints Sanders and Dart pass on early, they could be interested in jumping back in round 1.
There has also been some momentum behind Tyler Shegh and Jalen Milroe who go in round 1, so there are plenty of outs here to justify a bet on -130 or better.
Best Top-10 Bet: Shedeur Sanders (+250, Betmgm)
The buzz around the NFL version is that the broth of Sanders is falling, and there is a chance that he will fall to the Steelers at No. 21 or that he should even come back on Friday for round 2.
That would be considered crazy a week ago, so let’s go here with an Occam’s razor.
The browns, Giants and Saints can all use a quarterback and they all choose in the top 10.
In this design, Sanders is considered the second best signal-caller.
Sometimes one plus one is equal to two.
Dear Giants Bet: Travis Hunter To go no. 3 general (+650, bet365)
The chances are overwhelming in favor of Big Blue with Abdul Carter at this place, but I think there is enough smoke around the browns at number 2 is that there is a chance that they will surprise and leave Hunter on the table.
If that is the case, the Giants can take the two -way sensation or get a hunger by acting and allowing another team to select Hunter, while staying in position to take a quarterback deeper in round 1.
This is not near my favorite bet on the board, but if you are looking for a sweat for the choice of Big Blue, this is how I would tackle it.
Dear Jets Bet: Armand Membou to Go No. 7 General (+210, Betmgm)
This number has been driven a bit in recent days, but that seems to be more about the possibility that Membou van Armand is selected for the jets instead of passing on the attacking line keeper.
If the chalk applies in the first six choices, Membou should be there to select the jets and it seems that they will go that route if that is the case.
Best Dart Throw: Dallas Cowboys to select a Quarterback (150/1, BETMGM)
The cowboys are planned to choose 12th, and most of them let them select broad receiver Tetairoa McMillan, but Jerry Jones is not someone who is sitting on his hands if he has the chance to shake things up.
Jones said they have worked on some ‘substantive transactions’, which can shake up the entire design and open many possibilities for the cowboys to do just about everything
Perhaps Shedeur Sanders falls to Dallas at number 12, and Jones can’t resist the son of former Cowboys star Dion Sanders.
Or maybe they will exchange back in the later stages of the first round to select Sanders or Jaxson Dart?
Jones can bluff, but in case it is worth a small gamble, considering how long these opportunities are at Betmgm.
Bet on the NFL?
Best bet for round 2: Jalen Milroe to the Miami Dolphins (35/1, Betmgm)
Perhaps this bet will be based in round 1, but most spots have Jalen Milroe on Friday, so we’re leaving.
The Miami Dolphins have Tua Tagovailoa in -house, but his injury history is what it is, and the dolphins will probably investigate the option to get another signal camer to work with Tagovailoa and Zach Wilson.
Milroe has a lot of advantage, but is not seen as an end product, so it would be no surprise to see the dolphins grab him with the idea of developing him patiently so that he can take over it for Tua, or a very strong backup can be when tagovailoa goes down.
