The US Army is suspended Col. Sheyla baez ramirezGarrison commander of Fort McCoy in Wisconsin, after images by President Donald Trump, vice -president JD Vance, and Minister of Defense Pete Hegseeth missed in the commandesheet of the base.
The army confirmed the suspension on Monday but clarified: “This suspension is not a connection with any misconduct. We have no further details at the moment while this issue is being assessed,” said the US Army Reserve Command in a statement.
The relocation follows indignation on social media and a formal investigation that was started by the Department of Defense (DOD) in why the display wall contained empty frames where the images of Trump, Vance and Hegseeth should have appeared. The incident received attention after HegseTh posted a message on X stating: “Commander of Fort McCoy, whose basic chain of Commando-sign missed photos of Trump, Vance and Hegseeth, was suspended.”
Shortly thereafter, a new image was placed showing that the wall had been updated. “Regarding the ft. McCoy Chain of Command Wall Controverse … We have solved it! A study also started to find out what exactly happened,” wrote the Rapid Response Team of the Pentagon on X.
Ramirez took over as Garrison Commander in July 2024 and had previously served in key roles, including in Fort Belvoir, Virginia.
Her suspension comes in the midst of broader leadership in the army. Earlier this month, Colonel Susannah Meyers was removed from the command on Pituffik Space Force Base in Greenland after internal return to an e -mail in which she was distorted during a visit of comments from Vice President Vance. The Space Force mentioned a “loss of trust in her ability.”
In a separate controversy, Hegseeth fired four assistants last week after tensions about internal leaks bound to a second signal group chat that discussed Houthi attacks. The chat reportedly contained the wife, brother and personal lawyer of Hegseeth. Hegseeth attributed the Lek to ‘dissatisfied employees’.
