Blockbuster Weight loss Jabs can make birth control less effective and turn out to be harmful to unborn babies, according to an urgent warning from British drug leaders.
In a new warning, the Medicines and Healthcare Products Regulatory Agency (MHRA) insisted in women to use a slimming injection, including Ozempic and Wegovy to use contraception, because of possible risks for both the pregnant woman and the fetus.
In the meantime, those who use the ‘King-Kong’ of weight loss, Mounjaro, was told to ‘double’ their contraceptive methods when using the pill.
“Mounjaro can reduce the effectiveness of oral contraceptives in those who are overweight,” reads the alert, adding that safe sex “is especially important during the four weeks after starting Mounjaro and after a dose increase.”
Civil servants added that women who become pregnant during the use of the medication must stop taking them immediately.
Those who are breastfeeding must also stop the injections.
“There is insufficient safety data to know if taking the drug can harm the baby,” said the MHRA.
The supervisor added that it had received more than 40 reports to date with regard to pregnancy in women on the drugs.

The reports regarding pregnancy, registered by doctors and patients, include problems such as birth defects, miscarriages and non -planned pregnancies.
In some cases, the regulator added that women should continue to use contraception for a maximum of two months after stopping the medication before they try to get pregnant.
Mounjaro, which increases the levels of appetite-suppressing hormones, is known that it makes the pill less effective due to disruption that it causes to the digestive system, so that the contraceptive is washed away.
Patients who use weight loss injections are already advised to use contraception and stop taking the medicines when they become pregnant, in leaflets associated with the medicines.

The MHRA Alert also warned of buying the medicines of non-regulated and non-medical sellers such as beauty salons or via social media.
Dr. Alison Cave, MHRA Chief Safety Officer, said: ‘Skinny Jabs are medicines that his permit to treat specific medical conditions and may not be used as aesthetic or cosmetic treatments.
‘They are not a quick solution to lose weight and are not rated as safe when it is used in this way.
‘Our guidance offers patients a’ one-stop-shop ‘for us up-to-date advice on how to use these powerful medicines safely.
“This guidance should not be used as a replacement when reading the patient information brochure or having a conversation with a healthcare provider as part of the prescribing process.”

Responding to the announcement of the MHRA, Jasmine Shah, medication security officer at the National Pharmacy Association, for women to use the medicines to take knowledge.
