The team behind Vercel’s V0, an AI-driven platform for web creation, has developed An AI model that claims it excels at certain tasks for website development.
Available via an API, the model, called “V0-1.0-MD”, can be asked with text or images, and was “optimized for front-end and full-stack web development,” says the Vercel team. Currently in beta it requires a V0-Premium plan ($ 20 per month) or team plan ($ 30 per user per month) with used invoicing used.
The launch of the V0 model comes as more developers and companies want to adopt AI-driven tools for programming. By one Stack Overflow Survey Last year, about 82% of developers reported that they use AI tools for writing code. In the meantime, a quarter of the startups in the W25 -Batch of Y Combinator have generated 95% of their code bases by AI, according to YC Managing Partner Jared Friedman.
The VERCEL model can be “automatically fixed,” says the Vercel team, and it is compatible with tools and SDKs that support the API format of OpenAi. Evaluated on web development frameworks such as Next.js, the model can take up to 128,000 tokens in one go.
Tokens are the raw pieces of data with which AI models work, with a million tokens that are equivalent to around 750,000 words (about 163,000 words longer than “war and peace”).
Vercel is not the only outfit that develops tailor -made models to program, it should be noted. Last month JetBrains, the company behind a series of popular app tools for app development, debuted his first “open” AI coding model. Last week Windsurf released a family of programming models that called SWE-1. And yesterday Mistral revealed a model, Devstral, tailored to certain developer tasks.
Companies would like to want to develop AI-driven coding assistants, but models still have difficulty producing quality software. Code-generating AI tends to introduce security vulnerabilities And Errors, because of Weaknesses In areas such as the ability to understand the programming logic.
