UEFA Ladies Euro 2025: Group A – Switzerland versus Iceland

1 minute, 38 seconds Read

Switzerland meets Iceland in a crunch group A competition at UEFA Women’s Euro 2025.

After lost their first group matches, the defeats could see that Switzerland or Iceland will be the first team that is eliminated – which would be guaranteed if Norway and Finland play their play.

Team news

Switzerland has no worries for new injuries to report that this competition will be in this competition, although Smilla Vallotto is a booking away from the suspension for the last group match of the Swiss.

Iceland will be without Hildur Antonsdottir after her red card in their opening defeat against Finland in the tournament opener.

When is the kick -off?

Switzerland is confronted with Iceland in Stadium Wankdorf, Bern, at 9 p.m. CEST (20:00 UK Time) on Sunday 6 July, live on ITV1 and ITVX in the UK.

Scale

  • Switzerland defeated Iceland 2-1 in their only earlier UEFA ladies-euro meeting in 2017 in the same phase of the group phase.
  • Iceland chases a first UEFA ladies -euros -victory on Switzerland.
  • Switzerland is looking for only their second group victory in this competition (W1, D2, L3).
  • Iceland still has to win their second group match at UEFA Women’s Euro (D1, L3).

Prediction

After having had a defeat against Norway, despite the fact that he led during the break, Switzerland now has to build on the positives and cut their defensive mistakes because this game could amount to fine margins, given that the loser could be eliminated well.

However, Iceland will be desperate to produce a more clinical achievement after they were quite wasting against Finland despite their first clear start, so more calmness and patience is required in their end product if they keep their dreams alive.

Anyway, this game is one in which both teams do not want to admit first because of the moral and I see that this is fairly close to a point each.

Prediction: Switzerland 1-1 Iceland
