His most recent work included Mystery Miniseries The Residence, which was screened on Netflix earlier this year, and the original surfer The Surfer, together with Nicolas Cage, released in May.

McMahon was the son of Sir William “Billy” McMahon, a liberal, who became the 20th Prime Minister of Australia in 1971.
