Russian rockets and drones inserted Kiev in an overnight attack, the largest air raid on the Ukrainian capital since the war started more than three years ago.

The attack came shortly after President Trump had an hour’s phone call with Russian President Vladimir Putin, a conversation that Trump said that Trump made no progress to end the conflict. Shortly after the bombing, Trump spoke with the Ukrainian President Volodyymyr Zenskyyy, who called it a “very important and useful conversation”.

“It was a hard, sleepless night,” said Zenskyy in a post on social media, and added that the attack shows that Russia “is not going to end the war and fear.”

Zenskyy called for increased pressure on Russia and more air defense equipment. Earlier this week, the Trump government pampered shipments from critical weapons to Ukraine – such as missiles, ammunition and air defense systems – a movement that, according to KYIV, would limit the ability of Ukraine to defend itself against intensifying Russian air attacks and progress in the frontlinie.

In one Telegramp About his phone call with Trump on Friday, Zenskyy said the couple spoke about Russian air strikes and the increasing capacities of Ukraine. He called the US president “very informed” about Ukraine and said they had agreed to increase the protection of the air of Ukraine.

Zenskyy also claimed that he and Trump had agreed a meeting of their teams. “We are ready for direct projects with America and believe that this is extremely necessary for security, especially with regard to drones and related technologies,” he added.

That phone call came a day after Trump spoke with Putin About the end of the war in Ukraine. Trump said he was “very disappointed” with the conversation.

“I did not make any progress with him today,” he said and added, “I’m not happy with that.”

Foreign Affairs Consultant Yuri Ushakov of the Kremlin said that Putin Trump said that Russia will not go back in trying to achieve his goals in Ukraine, and that the war will continue until Moscow reaches the “main causes” of the conflict.

Ushakov did not explain what the goals of Putin were in Ukraine, but in the past the Russian leader said that he wants Ukraine to lose territory and does not match military alliances such as NATO.
