A real Doogie Hower provides patients in Camarillo, California.
Elliana Tenenbaum, the 18-year-old registered nurse who has written history several times, has been working in the first aid of St. John’s Hospital for two years.
“She applied to us when she was 16, which of course was never done,” reminded Denise Richardson, the nurse director of the hospital.
After graduating from high school at the age of 15, Tenenbaum graduated from the youngest nurse school at Arizona State University.
Instead of going to university parties, working in the hospital is her ‘pleasure’, Tenenbaum said.
“I am very passionate about taking care of others and being in health care,” she explained.
Inspired by her father, a doctor in a thousand Oaks, Tenenbaum said she knew she wanted to go into medicines at the age of 3.
“I knew that I wanted to be in the campaign and wanted to be in urgent medicine,” said the registered nurse, who went in high school a double registration program to be able to follow university courses while gaining her high school diploma.
Despite her young age, her colleagues in St. John Tenenbaum described as ‘great’.
“She still has that drive and that passion. You can see that she started very young in her life,” said Richardson.
Her work ethics is impressed by some of the most difficult critics, Dr. Christopher Sikes, who works in addition to her in the first aid.
“It requires a lot of work in a department of emergency department,” he said. “Especially, to do it at a young age, it shows dedication, work efforts and a lot of focus.”
While they continue to serve patients in the Camarillo Hospital, Tenenbaum said that she will also continue her studies at Vanderbilt University, where she fulfills her dream to obtain a diploma nurses.
“I knew that I wanted to be in a holistic profession where (I) take care of mind, body and soul,” said the 18-year-old. “I think nursing is doing great work to include that in health care.”
Tenenbaum is also planned to start at Duke University in August, where she will work on obtaining a doctorate in nursing.
“I learn and grow every day, and I’m lucky to work with an incredible team of people,” she said.
