Thousands of spectators gathered in the center of Danville to celebrate 249 years of freedom during the annual fourth July parade along San Ramon Valley Boulevard and Hartz Avenue on Friday morning. This year the 50th birthday of the fourth July parade was organized by the Kiwanis Club of San Ramon Valley.
Congressman Mark Desaulnier, mayor of Danville Renee Morgan and other elected officials participated in the Patriotic Parade. The veterans of foreign wars, vintage war vehicles, including a “Huey” helicopter, law enforcement and emergency assistant responds, Boy Scout clubs, cheerleaders and marching bands were some of the many participants who fought the large parade observers. Based on the Parade registrations, 110 registered groups participated with 2200 Parade participants and 165 vehicles, according to Kent Screechfield, Parade Co-chairman with the Kiwanis Club of San Ramon Valley.
The weather was also a star, with perfectly sunny sky on this holiday on July 4.
