If you have never heard of Mount to Coast in the past year, I dare to say that you are not on Instagram. They work together with influencers on the left, right, up and down. What we admit always leaves us a bit skeptical and yet we have many good things to say about the R1 and S1. Now they have released their first trail program with Mount to Coast T1.
The brand is determined to be seen as a go to ultra running shoe. Or more appropriately a shoe that lasts much longer than the standard 300-500 miles other running shoes.
Our own coach Laura set the R1 to the ultimate test during an ultra of 48 hoursCollecting 80 miles in it.
They lyrical over the spacious toebox and how comfortable her feet felt during and after her run. In fact, she is already planning to wear the R1 for her next ultra of partly, which says a lot about the long -distance potential of the shoe.
That leads us to their first trail shoe! I think it’s great how fast I have this dirty to test it!
- Wide feet: A little more space than average, but still not an exaggerated wide shoe.
- Technical paths: The Vibram Mega-Grip-Outsool offers a great grip, we want more varied instructions in the cams.
- Long runs: Designed to stop a long mileage, but not overly kisses to ensure that you still have a ground feeling.
- Front of the package: Light and agile, this is a great choice for many racers.
The Mount to Coast T1 is a well -rounded trail shoe for runners or walkers who want a long -term shoe with a grip. You will not find a plush pillow, but you will have sustainability and security in your shoe.

I have now led from Mount to Coast in all models And that is hard to say about most brands, but they keep it streamlined and slowly roll out. I really appreciate how much thought this brand has done to market a new shoe.
It is even an ISPO 2024 winner that is impressive for shoe, the rest of us is now just using! They marked it because they not only performed well, but are also sustainable. This is something we start to see more of, but MTC really nails.
Mount to Coasts Lightcell ™ foam is one of the reasons why it stands out. Although this is not a plush shoe, it is firmer, the foam is the key to the overall feeling.
The middle sole uses a Peba hybrid material that is processed by something that is called super critical foam, which creates an incredibly efficient foam structure. What you actually feel is a shoe that is noticeably lighter on your feet –The foam weighs half as much as the Eva you would find in many daily trainers– But still gives you that responsive, resilient feeling with every step.
All that to say, it’s a great moderate pillow. You will not lose your feeling off the ground, but you absolutely know that you have Cushion under the foot to make you feel good.
MTC even claims that it produces 45% better energy efficiency than traditional materials, which is part of the reason why Ultrarunners are so attracted to this brand. The combination of being lighter while you actually give up more spring means less fatigue and a more propagating ride. It is one of those technologies where the engineering actually translates into a real performance advantage that you can feel.
What makes this model a trail version?

Kevlar will help prevent cracks and tears of rocks, weeds and all the other things we encounter. But the tongue was also designed to dry quickly, which is huge during an ultra where a water transition or time in the rain is often inevitable.
The outsole is exactly what you would expect from vibram! I felt the Weenie of Downhills really confident about dirt, loss rock and some slick rock that I easily grabbed traction. And the small notches on the cams gave me the feeling that they gave me extra deeply on the way up.
The Zerosag characteristic of the R1 is worn here, which gives the shoe a bit a supportive feeling through the bow. But that is exactly what the shoe helps to survive the competition for sustainability. They have made claims to take up to 1,000 miles. We have not yet verified that.
My only complaint at the moment is the unisex format. It could explain why I had a little heel discomfort, there is a difference in the shoe as the last (shape shoes are built) around the heel for men and women.
As always, I like that MTC shoes have a more informal look for it. Although many of you have said that I have the bright colors, I am a fan of this style. And for once a brown shoe is actually pretty fantastic when you go on the paths instead of another white option that immediately looks grungy.
T1 Fit
TunedFit Placing is their term before. I would like to call it a lot if it was installed in advance and it is a great function. My husband has been using this style of laces for ten years because it offers a more adapted fit. Moreover, it is simply easier.
How is theirs better? With the double lace system you can adjust separately around the forefoot and top. This can be enormous for every runner who has pain or pain about the foot. And of course for ultra -runners when feet swell in the course of a raceYou can adjust quickly without denying the shoe.
The upper side easily puts in a small slip, but the bottom is left a bit to itself. I did not notice it particularly, but I was able to imagine the potential that it would be clapping and being annoying. Because everything is slightly annoying when you run all night.
Very similar to the R1 with a slightly wider toebox than most shoes. Not to name the foot shape, it is not that wide, but more space and very comfortable.
As noted, I had some heel problems. It was not so much a problem with my foot that pulled out of the shoe, but maybe I may not feel focused around the heel. This can be because mine is something narrow and that is where the last one of a woman helps me.
That said, I have planned more kilometers in the T1 because I like the overall feeling and fit. I am curious if I can incorporate more and solve problems there.

Still trying to understand what we mean by moderate kisses … we get that. Here are some similar shoes:

We love the sustainability of this brand and the focus on sustainability. This is really a shoe that can handle it all, so our only disadvantage is currently the unisex dimensions.
Okay, there you have our Mount to Coast T1 review says that the shoes really realize about all the hype you see online! Why wouldn’t you opt for a shoe with a longer lifespan, even if you don’t turn 100 miles?
