Manila, Philippines-Meralco is competing against B.League champion Utsunomiya Brex and Shabab al-Ahli from host United Arab Emirates in group B of the Basketball Champions League Asia, planned from 7 to 13 June in Dubai.
De Bouten discovered their grouping in the draw of Saturday’s competition where they participate in the Continental Club tournament as a PBA representative.

Winner of the Chinese basketball club Zhejiang Guangsha Lions, Iran’s Tabiat Basketball and Broncos of Mongolia are in group West -Azia Super League -Titlist Al Riyadi of Lebanon, Korean Basketball Competition LG Sakers and Taiwan’s Taayers.
The eight best teams based on their general point difference will continue to the quarterfinals.
Meralco was chosen to wear the PBA banner because of the title defender of last season’s Philippine Cup.

The selection came in the middle of the current eliminations of the Philippine Cup, where the competition actually made important revisions of the schedule to finish the bolts the Elims before they went to the BCL campaign.
Meralco ended the Elims on 6-5 and insured a play-off place after beating Barangay Ginebra, 82-73, on Friday in Smart Araneta Coliseum.
Coach Luigi Trillo had previously said that the bolts are planning to maximize the rule of tapping three imports for the tournament.
