Maruti bets on Indian Railways for transport: vehicle shipments by trains to rise to 35%; Second car -Railway facade cladding opened – Times of India

Maruti Suzuki India wants to considerably increase the deliveries of the vehicle via trains up to 35% in FY 2030-31, as stated by MD CEO Hisashi Takeuchi. This expansion is supported by the new in-factory Railway Facade in Manesar, the largest GatisHakti multimodal freight terminal in India. The initiative will considerably reduce carbon emissions and fuel consumption.

New Delhi: Maruti Suzuki India MD-CEO Hisashi Takeuchi claimed Tuesday that the car leader of the car would send 35% more vehicles via trains per financial year (FY) 2030-31.“As soon as it becomes fully operational, we can send 4.5 LakH vehicles annually, which increases the share of the railway shipments by FY 2030-31 to 35 percent,” PTI Takeuchi press agency quoted.He spoke about the inauguration of the car -on -Ploor -railway cladding -the second such facility -in the Maruti Suzuki Factory in Haryana’s Manesar. The in-factories of the Auto-Railse in Manesar is the largest Gatishakti multi-modal freight terminal in the country.In the meantime, Takeuchi also remembered how Maruti Suzuki increased vehicle deliveries via trains, from around 5 percent in FY 2014-15 to 24 percent last year.“More than ten years ago we have a pioneer in the use of railways for vehicle shipments by becoming the car license for the car road-train operator in India, and since then we have delivered more than twenty-five Lakh passenger vehicles with the help of railways,” he said.In March 2024, the car manufacturer became the first car company to set up a railway facade in -factory – in the factory in Ahmedabad, Gujarat.Takeuchi said that the company “continues” with the new facility in Manesar.“This means a growth of almost 40 percent compared to the current level. We will be able to prevent an estimated 1.75 lakh ton of carbon dioxide -equivalent emission and save 60 million liters of fuel annually,” he said.
