Manchester City has signed midfielder, Tijjani Reijnders from AC Milan for £ 48 million with a five -year contract.

The move from Reijnders to Man City comes only three months after he had signed a new five -year contract with AC Milan until 2030, but he has now chosen to reach the city’s contract after an initial compensation of £ 48 million had been agreed between the two clubs.

However, the reimbursement could rise to £ 54.8 million if it has easy to make add-on clauses, but if City meets a more difficult set of add-on, the total compensation is expected to be £ 59 million.

The 26-year-old has now left AC Milan after he yielded 19 goals in 104 performances, in which he helped the team to win the 2024 Supercoppa Italiana.

Reijnders is “ecstatic” to complete his move to City and play Premier League football, who has seen many Dutch players in recent decades.

“City is one of the largest teams in the world, with the best coach, players of world class and excellent facilities. Under Pep Guardiola, City has won so many titles, and I want to help that to maintain that with much more success in the coming years.

“It is also a dream come true in the Premier League. This competition has had many of the best Dutch players perform over the years and it is an inspiration to follow in their footsteps.

“I am really looking forward to getting started, meeting the other players and showing the fans of Manchester City what I can do.”

The Dutch midfielder is of the opinion that Pep Guardiola was coached ‘A big chance for me’ to ‘develop myself as a midfielder – to be an even more complete midfielder.

Director of City, Hugo Viana, added that Reijnders will bring extra quality in midfield after the exit of Kevin De Bruyne.

“Tijjani adds extra energy, calmness and creativity to our midfield and working with Pep and our coaches will only see him go into force to strength.”

Reijnders started his senior career at PEC Zwolle and quickly made a move to AZ Alkmaar in 2017, where he scored 19 goals in 92 performances for their reserve team-which made 27 first team performances.

At the start of the 2021-22 season, the midfielder came up full-time to the team of the first team and he scored 13 goals in 101 performances in two seasons before AC Milan dived for him in July 2023.
