India’s Ster Wicketkeer-Batter Rishabh Pant showed his playful side behind the stumps during the Headingley test of the Anderson-Detulkar trophy on Sunday (June 21). The stump microphone recorded several of his witty comments to bowlers and field players and offered funny moments for viewers.
In a now viral video shared by Star Sports on X, the reaction of pant on a wide delivery of Ravindra Jadeja can be seen. The ball of the left arm spinner, wide oriented over the leg side, probably anticipating a big shot of the aggressive opener of England, Ben Duckett, had to jump to the right to catch it.
Pant-Jadeja’s hilarious chatter
Jadeja told Pant to Humourous: “Mai bhi khel raha hu bhai, apne chauke ke chakkar mein mera chaukka mat dedena, “what translates into (I also play, brother. Don’t give my four to save a four).
The 27-year-old referred to Byes, where if he had missed the wide ball, the delivery of Jadeja would have reached the border. Although bys is not credited to the bowler, they are counted against the Wicketkeeper, regardless of the difficulty of the catch.
Shubman Gill said: “Abhi ye pura confused hai jaddu bhai, kaunsi seedhi hai aur kaunsi udhar. Aayega Iska!” (Now he is completely confused, Jaddu brother, he does not do who will turn it. He will come out quickly!)
Ben Duckett was eventually fired by Jasprit Bumrah in the 29th, so that the ball was cut on its stumps. Duckett’s innings of 62 (94), including nine limits, had given England a considerable momentum.
Bumrah was the only Wicket Toner from India for the day with three wickets, after the resignation of Pant and Gill for 147 and 134, which led to a collapse of lower order, and India ended with 471. England closed the day at 209/3, with Ollie Pope at 100.
