Las Vegas – Mike Brown has not revealed much in his introductory press conference, but he in particular mentioned his desire for a quick attack.

And he also passed that on to the coaching staff.

“We have communicated foundationally about what we want to do on both sides of the ball. A large part of it – and he spoke about it with you in his press – just plays fast,” said Jordan Brink, the Knicks Summer League coach.

As Brink noted, the loss of 104-86 from Friday evening before the pistons soon became a bad example of Brown’s vision.

They started badly – failure to take care of the ball – and never recovered.

With Brown and the Front Office sitting in Vegas in Vegas, Tyler Kolek, the second -year Point Guard, struggled with 10 points and five turnover.

The shaky version, which penetrates through the New York schedule, can easily be thrown away as a meaningless sloppy more open.

But it wasn’t beautiful either.

“I thought it took a while to adapt to the competition,” said Brink, an assistant under Tom Thibodeau last season. “And we played quickly and played with pace in practice all week. And when the first five minutes today, we didn’t really have that. So that was the biggest thing from an offensive point of view of how we wanted to play. I don’t think we did well.”

Success in the summer competition has no big significance, especially because zero players in the New York schedule as important contributors to the rotation.

Yet at least three players – Kolek, Ariel Hukporti and Pacôme Dadite – are guaranteed schedules.

Another schedule and three two -way contracts are also for the taking.

And they all struggled on Friday. The Knicks shot a combined 40 percent and 22 percent (6-from-27) on Treys.

It is difficult to play quickly while committing 16 sales in 40 minutes.

“(Fast playing) doesn’t just mean up and down. It doesn’t just mean that we have to come out of the transition,” said Brink. “The fast part is all our things in our promotions. So we get the ball quickly on the floor, and if we have nothing, we are quickly on our way to the next action. That is really only decision -making.”

The good news is that there are still four games in Vegas to produce a better version of Brown’s ideal attack.

Kolek is looking forward to another chance to display Brown’s philosophies.

“He did not tackle the entire team. He just came here last week,” said Kolek. “But what the coaches have emphasized in Summer League, and I am sure what he has passed on to them, it’s just playing faster, taking the ball out, we want to jump the floor, move the ball.”
