Israeli attacks kill 60 in Gaza, doctors say, as Netanyahu says that two hostages are being restored

Israeli rifle and air strikes killed at least 60 Palestinians on Wednesday, most of them near an aid site managed by the US and Israeli Gaza Humanitarian Foundation in the center of the Enclave, said local health officials.
Medical officials at Shifa and Al-Qudds hospitals said that at least 25 people were killed and tens of people were injured when they approached a food distribution center in the vicinity of the former Jewish settlement of Netzarim before dawn.
The army of Israel, which has been at war with Hamas militants since October 2023, said that the troops of the armed forces shot warning shots at night to a group of suspects because they were a threat to troops in the field of the Netzarim -Gang.
“Despite warnings, this is that the area is an active combat zone. The IDF is aware of reports about the injured persons; the details are being investigated,” said it.

Later on Wednesday, health officials said in the Nasser Hospital in Khan Younis in the southern Gaza Strip that at least 14 people were killed by Israeli gunfire when they approached another GHF site in Rafah.

The foundation said that it was not aware of Wednesday’s incidents, but added that it worked closely with the Israeli authorities to ensure that safe passage routes are maintained and that it was essential for Palestinians to follow the instructions closely.
In a statement, GHF said that it spread 2.5 million meals on Wednesday, the largest delivery of one day since it started with the activities, which provided the number of meals since the activities yielded more than 16 million at the end of May.
The Ministry of Health of Gaza says that since then 163 Palestinians had been killed and more than 1,000 injured people have tried to obtain the food boxes.

Bodies of two hostages recovered in Gaza

The Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said on Wednesday that the bodies of two hostages were found from Gaza by the army and the domestic intelligence service, the Shin Bet, from Gaza.
Netanyahu said in a statement that the number of hostage Yair Yaakov had been collected, together with that of another hostage whose identity was not deleted for publication.
The Israeli army said that militants of the Palestinian group of Islamic Jihad Yaakov have kidnapped and killed during the Hamas-conducted attack on 7 October on southern Israel in 2023.
Militants also took the partner of Yaakov, MeiRAV Tal, and two of his children, or and Yagil, hostage, but later released, the army said. Yaakov was 59 at the time of his death.

The army said that it brought the family to the second hostage whose body it restored, and added that it made the bodies in the Khan Younis area in southern Gaza.

53 hostages are still held in Gaza, with less than half that it is believed to be alive.

The newest recovery brings the number of hostages so far that this month has been collected by Israeli troops this month.
Hamas and other Gaza militants kidnapped 251 people during the 2023 attack, in which around 1,200 people were killed in Israel.
According to Gaza Health Authorities, the retaliation war of Israel against Hamas in Gaza killed nearly 55,000 Palestinians and flattened a large part of the densely populated comic, which is home to more than two million people.

The majority of the population is displaced and malnutrition is widespread.
