Indonesian authorities have arrested 285 people for suspected drug trafficking, where researchers warn women to be more vigilant when forming relationships “in the real world and in Cyberspace”.
The arrested are one Australian, 29 women and seven foreigners.
The police grabbed more than half a ton of different drugs in the national performance of two months.
The head of the National Narcotic Agency, Marthinus Hukom, said that the performance, launched between April and June in 20 provinces, also discovered money washing schedules by two drug syndicates and confiscated assets worth more than 26 billion Rupiah (approximately $ 2.46 million).
Thirty -six of the suspects, including 21 women, were paraded for reporters, together with confiscated drugs, in their orange prison uniforms and handcuffs.
Mr. Hukom said that the women arrested were mostly housewives.
“I call on Indonesian women to be more watchful in setting up friendships, both in the real world and in Cyberspace,”
he said.
One of the delegates of the Agency, Budi Wibowo, said that the authorities 683 kg Crystal Meth, Marijuana, Ecstasy, THC, Hashish and amphetamine seized, so that this was helped to prevent “more than 1.3 million people”.

Mr. Wibowo also said that drug syndicates have used different methods to distribute narcotics among users via land and sea feed or e -mail services.
He said that the seven strangers were an American, two Kazakhs, two Malaysians, an Indian and an Australian.
The United Nations office on drugs and crime says that Indonesia is an important drug smuggling hub, partly because international drug syndicates focus on its young population.
In a separate operation, the authorities on the province of Riau Island, exposed in two cases of drug smuggling in his waters and 2.7 tons of crystal methamphetamine and 1.2 tons of ketamine seized, Mr Hukom said Monday.

In 2023 the authorities discovered more than 52,000 drug cases and adopted 6 tons of Crystal Meth, 1.1 tons of marijuana and other types of synthetic narcotics, said Mochammad Hasan of the Ministry of Security Affairs during the press conference.
Mr. Hasan said that the number increased by more than 56,000 cases and 7.5 tons of Crystal Meth and 3.3 tonnes of marijuana in 2024, with a mowing porter with a value of 7.5 trillion Rupiah ($ 710 million). In November 2024, authorities arrested a total of 27,357 suspects of drugs, he said.
At the beginning of this month, three British subjects were accused of smuggling almost a kilogram of cocaine to Indonesia in a court on the tourist island of Bali. They are confronted with the death penalty under the strict drug laws of the country.
About 530 people, including 96 foreigners, are in the death cell in Indonesia, especially for drug -related crimes, the data from the Ministry of Immigration and Corrections showed.
The last executions of Indonesia, of an Indonesian and three foreigners, were carried out in July 2016.
