Citizens are among the injured after a suicide bonus has rammed an explosively loaded vehicle in a military convoy in North Waziristan
A suicide bent has rammed a vehicle full of explosives in a military convoy in the Noord -Waziristan district of the province of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa in Pakistan. Until now, no group has taken responsibility, but the area has frequently experienced violence and attacks by a terrorist organization that was previously linked to the Taliban.
The attack on Saturday killed 13 soldiers and injured 29 people, including ten army personnel and 19 civilians, a public local officer told AFP. According to a local police officer, the roofs of two houses collapsed because of the explosion, injuring six children.
This suicide attack comes in the midst of an increase in militant attacks in Pakistan. Senior military and political leaders have attributed the increase in violence in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa to Tehreek-E-taliban Pakistan (TTP) militants who carry out cross-border attacks from Afghanistan. They claim that Kabul offers shelter and support to these militants, a claim that the Afghan authorities have denied.
Earlier in June, TTP terrorists killed a policeman in the Lakki Marwat -district of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. When the militants tried to escape, the locals and security forces chased after them, killing one during a shooting, according to the police.
