Healthywomen shares the concern of leading medical associations and public health organizations on the recent decision of the Ministry of Health and Human Services (HHS) to abruptly reject all 17 sitting members of the Advisory Committee for Immunization Practices (ACIP) that advises the CDC in the VS.
The ACIP is a group of unpaid experts who give recommendations on how they can best apply research results on the use of vaccine for public health. The committee has served as a trusted national source of data -driven advice on the use of vaccines to prevent and control the spread of infectious diseases.
The ACIP recommendations are invoked by care providers, public health officials, community leaders and families for guidance. Their decisions also influence which vaccines are covered by insurance, which largely determines the access of the patient.
We are now insisting on the leadership of the government to maintain a scientifically based process with the ACIP to determine the best use of immunisations. We support decisions that encourage trust and trust in evidence-based, patient-oriented public health practices for vaccing use.
We extend our call to reverse the decision on COVID-19Gaccins during pregnancy, as explained in our recent rack. As always, we recommend talking to your doctor or healthcare provider about health decisions.
