  • Auxiliary centers run by the GHF, a desk supported by the US and Israel, will close temporarily on Wednesday.
  • The Israeli army is confronted with accusations of shooting in crowds civilians hurrying to pick up auxiliary packages near GHF locations.
  • The UN has insisted on accountability.
Auxiliary centers run by the Gaza Humanitarian Foundation (GHF), an agency supported by the United States and by Israel, will temporarily close for renovation on Wednesday, the foundation said.
“4 June, distribution centers will be concluded for renovation, reorganization and efficiency improvement work,” GHF wrote on Facebook.
Auxiliary distribution will resume on Thursday, it said.
The Israeli army confirmed the temporary closure.

“It’s forbidden tomorrow [Wednesday] To travel on roads that lead to distribution centers, which are considered combat zones, “the Israeli military spokesperson Avichay Adraee posted on social media.

An official private effort with opaque financing, GHF started operations on 26 May after Israel cut off the supplies in Gaza for more than two months, so that Mass Famine’s warnings were fueled.
But GHF’s first operations, in which it claimed to have distributed more than seven million meals in food, is marred by criticism.
The Israeli military confronted accusations of shooting in crowds civilians who hurry to pick up auxiliary packages near GHF locations – Palestinian authorities say that dozens have been killed.

Israeli authorities and the GHF – who used US security contracted to provide help – denied such an incident.

The United Nations and major aid forces have refused to collaborate with the basis for concern that it was designed to provide for Israeli military objectives.
For decades, the UN agency for Palestinian refugees, UNRWA, had the spearhead distribution in Gaza, with dozens of other organizations that participated in efforts to help the population.
Israel accused UNRWA of providing coverage for Hamas militants, and claimed that some of the employees of the Agency participated in the attack of 7 October 2023 of the group.
A UN study later showed that nine UNRWA staff might have been involved in the Hamas attack.

The agency fired them, but said that Israel had not provided any evidence of more widespread involvement by its staff.

Gazans killed in search of help

The civilian defense agency of Gaza said that 27 people were killed on Tuesday in southern Gaza when Israeli troops opened the fire near an auxiliary center supported by the US, in which Israel’s soldiers said the incident was being investigated.

UN Secretary-General António Guterres described the death of Palestinians who sought food aid as “unacceptable”, and the chief of the world organ condemned the attacks on citizens as “a war crime” after a similar shooting near the same location on Sunday.
Mahmoud Basal, spokesperson for Gaza’s Civil Defense Agency, said that tanks, drones and helicopters opened the fire about a kilometer from a GHF site.
It is the third incident in three days.
According to the Palestinian health authorities, around 31 Palestinians were killed on 1 June and three more the next day.
All the incidents reportedly took place near newly established auxiliary hubs in southern Gaza.

Brigadier -General Effie Defrin, spokesperson for the Israeli army, said that troops only shots warning shots on people who left safe corridors and pose a threat.

Jeremy Laurence, a spokesperson for the UN -Human Rights Office, called for accountability.
“Fatal attacks on distraught citizens who try to gain access to the meager quantities of food aid in Gaza are unconscious,” he said.
“For a third day, people were killed around an auxiliary distribution location of the Gaza Humanitarian Foundation.”
He said the UN have given clear warnings about it.
“Palestinians have presented the Grimmest of choices: dying from the hunger or the risk of being killed while trying to gain access to the lean food made available by the militarized humanitarian auxiliary mechanism of Israel.
“This militarized system endangers lives and violates international standards for aid distribution, such as the United Nations have repeatedly warned.”
