Eleven people died and many more were injured during a victory parade of Royal Challengers Bengaluru’s very first Indian Premier League title ever.
The incident happened when thousands of cricket fans gathered outside the Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru to celebrate the IPL triumph of their side.

DK Shivakumar, the Vice Minister President of the state of Karnataka, said reporters that “the crowd was very uncontrollable.”
When the tragedy unfolded, the gates of the stadium were “not even opened, but there were so many people trying to push through a small gate that the rush took place,” said an official.

Royal Challengers Bengaluru sealed a historic IPL championship on Tuesday and had flown in the old airport of Hal to be received by Shivakumar. They then had to drive to the stadium in a procession before the crush took place.

Death with many, the victim -tol was unveiled by the state minister Siddaramaiah of Karnataka, who told reporters that the authorities had not expected the enormous number of people that had expired.
Stampedes are relatively common in India when large crowds gather in one place. In January, at least 30 people were killed when tens of thousands of Hindus rushed to bathe in a holy river during the Maha Kumbh festival, the world’s greatest religious meeting.
