The Ministry of Education will launch a state-wide campaign, Shalege BAA, to increase the presence at government schools, said Primary and Secondary Education Minister Madhu Bangarappa on Tuesday in Belagavi.
“We are launching the campaign based on instructions from Minister -President Siddaramaiah. As part of the program, teachers will start from door to door and invite students to attend lessons. Teachers will not only convince parents of the need to teach their children, but also about the facilities provided in government schools,” said the minister.
During a progress review meeting, he spoke about the educational districts of Belagavi and Chikkodi in the Suvarna Soudha here.
“We must all concentrate on increasing registration in government schools. Teachers and officials must work on providing quality education to children and, for example, government schools, such as private schools, we must introver on the reduced registration in government schools,” he said.
“Teachers and managers must concentrate in schools where registration falls. An additional focus must be given to those schools. Priority must be given to bringing children to school and offering quality education,” he said.
“The state government offers various facilities to children such as free uniforms, afternoon meals and books at its schools. This must be published. The state government has decided to allow school recordings until July 30 of this year. Steps have to be taken to ensure that more children have access to government schools,” he said.
“I have noticed that the presence of government school children in Gokak and Raibag Taluks in the Belagavi district is very low. Data on the registration of children must be correctly maintained every year. The officials involved must pay surprise visits to schools and perform continuous checks,” he said.
SSLC Pass percentage has increased this year in the educational districts of Belagavi and Chikkodi. Efforts must be made to improve it in the coming years. He pointed out that the presence of teachers in schools should be strictly maintained, he said.
“Children who are left behind in learning must be identified and the focus should be on improving their predisposition. Good teachers must be identified and get more responsibility. The government has already focused on organizing awareness programs called Odu Karnataka in every district. It is essential for every government school to offer children,” he said.
The funds released by the department must be used correctly. Shoes and socks that are distributed to children in schools must be of good quality. School uniforms and textbooks must be distributed to all children at the end of July. The regulations that are included by the educational department must be properly implemented, the minister said.
School buildings that have fallen due to rain must be identified and the department must be informed of this. They will be repaired. Fine rooms should not be used to give lessons, he said.
Vacancies are filled with guest teachers, said Deputy Director Leelavati Hiremath. She said there is currently no shortage of teaching staff. She said that expired buildings are identified for repairs.
Mlas Mahantesh Kaujalagi and Duryodhan Aihole, Zilla Panchayat Chief Executive Officer Rahul Shinde, additional Education Commissioner Jayashree Shintre and other officers were present.
