The Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK) On Wednesday (28 May 2025), three candidates announced for the biennial elections for six seats of the Rajya Sabha and has assigned one chair to actor Kamal Haasan-guided Makkal Needhi Maiam.

In a statement, DMK President and Tamil Nadu Chief Minister MK Stalin re-enforced the established MP P. Wilson, and Sr Sivalingam and A. Rokkaiah Malik announced, better known as poet Salma, as candidates. He also said that one chair was assigned to the Makkal Needhi Maiam, as agreed earlier.

The India (ECI) election committee on 26 May announced the schedule for the biennial elections to fill six Rajya Sabha seats-one third of the seats of Tamil Nadu, which will be vacant in July of this year.

The agency of Aiadmk’s N. Chandrasegharan; DMK’s P. Wilson, MM Abdulla and M. Shanmumum; MDMK’s Vaiko; And PMK’s Anbumani Ramadoss will come to an end.

According to the schedule, the notification would be issued on 2 June and the last date for submitting nominations would be on June 9, and they would be investigated the next day. After the last day before withdrawing nominations, if applicable, the date of the poll is planned on 19 June, if there is a competition. Counting votes is scheduled at 5 p.m. on June 19.
