A highly contagious COVID variant increases in the UK, with official data that suggests that infections have doubled in a month.
The UK Health Security Agency (UKHSA) reported that eight percent of the COVID tests that were analyzed at the beginning of June were positive for the new ‘Nimbus’ Stam. This has risen from only four percent mid -May.
Nimbus, scientifically known as NB1.8.1, is considered the most contagious variant of the virus so far with experts who warn that it could drive a wave of new things this summer.
Other data collected by the agency show that the total number of tests that has returned positively for each type of COVID has risen to 6.8 percent per 15 June, the latest available data.
This is an increase of 5.6 percent last month and represents the highest figure that has been registered this year.
Both figures are probably an underestimation of how far Nimbus and Covid generally spread, given that testing is massively reduced from the level of the pandemic.
In his weekly report, UKHSA also said that there was also a slight increase in hospital admissions for Covid to just over 1.5 admissions per 100,000 people.
Earlier this month it follows warnings from British scientists that Nimbus could lead to an increase in Covid cases.
They warned that the immunity of many people against the virus, made up of earlier infections and older Jabs, is probably blurred, which means that they can run a higher risk to get sick.

Lab studies suggest that Nimbus can infect human cells more efficiently than earlier strains, and that it can have an increased ability to avoid the immune system, making it more likely to infect people.
However, there is currently no evidence that the tension, one descendant of the already super virulent Omicron is more likely to cause serious illness or death in those who infect it compared to earlier strains.
But any Covid infection with the virus can still be deadly, especially for more vulnerable groups such as the elderly or people with compromised immune system.
Medici have warned that everyone with a ‘razor blade’ cheese can have Nimbus.
Dr. Michael Gregory, regional medical director of NHS England in the northwest, recently said: “The variant seems to be spreading quickly within communities, with top symptoms are a ‘razor’ sore throat and swollen neck glands.”
Wide Nimbus symptoms are not thought that they differ from other Covid variants and include fatigue, fever, muscle pain and a sore throat.
Experts have also said that the current COVID vaccines, which are formulated to combat Omicron descendants, are expected to remain effective against Nimbus.
Although data suggests that Nimbus is increasing in the UK, it is currently still good for a minority of the total Covid cases.

Instead, LP.8.1.1 and XFG – which, just like Nimbus, Omicron descendants – were the most common Covid variants that were a fifth and a quarter of all tests analyzed respectively.
Earlier this month, the World Health Organization said that Nimbus is now good for 10.7 percent of COVID infections worldwide, compared to only 2.5 percent in May.
Other UKHSA data, it appears that only 59 percent of the British in England over the age of 75 had taken over the offer of a Covid vaccine.
The admission fell for only one in four people under 75s with a compromised immune system, which also qualify for the JAB on the NHS.
The Spring Covid Vaccine Drive of NHS England can be concluded with the system that will be closed for bookings earlier this week.
Vaccine companies are reportedly in the midst of updating their recordings to match the ‘Nimbus’ trunk.
Moderna said at the end of last month that his updated MnexSpike recording will be available against autumn.
