The New York Knicks are at a crossroads this season outside season with their head coaching position wide open.
After saying goodbye to Tom Thibodeau after their loss of the Eastern Conference final, the franchise is looking for the right leader to guide their championship ambitions.
One name has emerged as a compelling candidate.
According to Brian Windhorst of ESPN, both Jason Kidd and the Knicks mutual interest in making a coaching change happen.
“The way I would describe this is that there is mutual intrigues on both parties and I also know that there is this whole thing to ask for permission, you do not ask for permission to hire another team coach. If you ask, you will hire them. So, if the Knicks express interest, the ball will be explained in the Court of the Mavericks,” is. “

The situation presents Dallas with three different paths ahead. They could simply reject all overtures from Knicks and lock Kidd for next season.
The Mavericks can also see his current deal to make the stay in Dallas irresistible, building on the contract extension he signed last year.
The third option has most intrigues for Windhorst. Dallas was able to entertain Handelskidd for compensation, something the competition has seen before.
Kidd himself was involved in such a deal more than ten years ago when Brooklyn sent him to Milwaukee in exchange for two picks in the second round.
Windhorst believes that the time remains to develop this scenario, despite speculation that Dallas could refuse interview requests. The ESPN insider is not ready to completely reject the possibility.
The Knicks brought their coaching change after a loss of six games for the Indiana Pacers ended their first Eastern Conference Finals appearance in 25 years.
While achieving that phase was considerable progress, owner James Dolan and President Leon Rose decided that the milestone was not enough.
With the team that works in Win-NOW mode, they opted for a new direction that, according to them, can finally push New York to the NBA final.
