Alex Eala impresses Barbora Krejcikova in Tough Wimbledon Duel

Manila, Filippines – Wimbledon title defender Barbora Krejcikova tipped her hat to Alex Eala, in the conviction that she is one of the next generation of stars in tennis.

Krejcikova had to overcome a first -class melting before he brought down the sandy Eala, 3-6, 6-2, 6-1 victory to continue to the second round on Tuesday.

The World No.16 player from the Czech Republic was completely praise for the Filipino tennis sensation after a heavily fought first round duel.

“I mean, I would like to start giving the honor to Alex. I mean, what the hell she played in the first set. She hit the ball and she was cleaned the lines and so, so, wow,” said Krejcikova after the victory.

Eala knew a 1-2 shortage in the opening set before Krejcikova unleashed the heart of a champion to dominate the last two sets.

Eala remains looking for the main draw of her first ladies Grand Slam Singles with a first round of exit after her French open debut in May.

But Krejcikova sees a bright future for the 20-year-old.

“Wow, it is a next generation that is coming. She will come up and she will be really good in a few years. So in the first place, large credit, big credit to her,” she said.

World No. 56 Eala was only three days away from her second place in the Eastbourne, where she absorbed a loss of three sets to Maya Joint from Australia in a debilitating final.

Krejcikova withdrew from the WTA 250 tournament due to a thighing problem. She returns from a shoulder injury after missing the first five months of the season.

Eala competes in the Wimbledon with German Eva Lys, opposite Olga Danilovic and Anastasia Potapova in the first round on Wednesday.
