The Air India Boeing 787 Crash investigation progresses well with the necessary support from local authorities and agencies, the Ministry of Civil Aviation said on Thursday.

“The investigation of the Aircraft Accident Investigation Bureau (AAIB) is steadily progressing with all the necessary support from local authorities and agencies. The most important repair work, including Sited documentation and evidence, is complete and further analysis is now underway,” it added.

However, the ministry said that no decision has yet been made about decoding the black boxes of the plane in India or at the National Transportation Safety Board Laboratory in the US. The Boeing 787 plane has two black boxes consisting of a digital flight data recorder and a cockpit speech recorder. Both have been recovered from the accident and data in it will be crucial to determine the factors behind the accident.

“The decision with regard to the location for decoding the flight recorders will be taken by the AAIB after the necessary assessment of all technical, security and security considerations,” the ministry said in response to a media report, which said black boxes would be sent to the US for further analysis

Although it is not unusual that Black Box is sent abroad, especially if they are damaged, the alleged movement caused criticism on social media. Countries such as Indonesia and Ethiopia decoded black boxes after Boeing crashed quickly and transparently, a user on X.

In April India received its own special digital flight data recorder lab in Delhi in April. Built at the expense of £ 9 crore, the state-of-art facility will enable AAIB to repair damaged black boxes, pick up data and perform thorough analyzes of accidents and incidents, the ministry said at the time of the opening.

Protocols

A person who is familiar with the investigation of the aircraft accident said there are protocols for dealing with the black box and it is important evidence. “An AAIB official wears the black box with him and is present when it is opened for research. The Indian embassy also indicates a representative to supervise the process,” he said.

In fact, the Court of Enquiry report reports in the Air India Express Mangaluru Air Crash of 2010 of 2010 that although Air India has facilities for decoding the flight recorders, it was not possible to do this because the recorders were damaged during the accident. “The court therefore brought the recorders to the NTSB, US, where they were successfully repaired and decoded, so that they could be read again in the DGCA laboratory,” the report said.

In the meantime, the civil aviation minister Ram Mohan Naidu Kinjarapu held a meeting with Top -Air India managers on Thursday to assess the airline’s response to last week’s air accident. The discussions were aimed at three critical aspects of maintaining operational continuity, to support transparent and responsible communication with the safety and convenience of the public and passengers.

Meetings were also held with managers of SpiceJet, Indigo and Akasa Air to assess fleet performance, passenger experience, safety experience. The meeting was also held with airport directors to revise the preparation mechanisms and passenger support mechanisms in the light of flight delays and diversions.

In order to maintain a safe and safe airport environment, airport directors were instructed to strengthen the management of animals in the wild, including the deterrent of birds and stray animals, the ministry said.
