A top doctor has unveiled the only supplement that he swears by his surprising anxiety and sleep-inducing benefits.
According to Dr. Myro Figura, an anesthesistic from California, could be a special type of magnesium called magnesium glycinate the answer to sleepless nights.
In an Instagram video that has been viewed more than 942,000 times so far, Dr. Figura, who is a member of the American Board of Anesthesiology, not only said that the vitamin pill improves sleep, but can also improve the absorption of vitamin D, which is beneficial for the health of the bone.
Magnesium is an essential mineral that ensures that the body converts food into energy and helps the thyroid glands to function.
But it is also known that it offers sleep benefits by reducing the levels of the stress hormone cortisol and stimulating melatonin, helping the body relaxing ready for sleep.
“If there were one supplement that I would recommend, it would be magnesium glycinate,” Dr. Figura in the video.
“First, more than half of us is a shortage of magnesium and magnesium is involved in all kinds of biochemical reactions.”
Magnesium glycinate is a very absorbable form of magnesium created by combining the mineral with an amino acid called glycine.
Dr. Figura recommends magnesium to his abundance of health benefits, including stimulating vitamin D absorption, reducing anxiety and depression and helping to support sleep
Unlike other forms of magnesium, it is unlikely that this supplement puts added stress on the digestive system and it is thought that the body helps to release heat, which is needed to fall asleep.
Supplements that are sold on boots, Holland & Barrett and in supermarket boards are often sold as tablets of 375 mg and only cost 10 p per dose.
A magnesium deficiency is known to increase the levels of the stress hormone cortisol and suddenly causes nightwatching.
In the video, Dr. Figura to one systematic reviewPublished in the magazine NutrientsThat looked at 18 different clinical examinations and discovered that magnesium could be beneficial for those who suffer with mild fear.
Dr. Figura advised that taking magnesium supplements for these people could sleep better at night.
It is thought that magnesium can change how certain chemicals such as cortisol work in the brain.
A 2022 judgement From studies, in which more than 7,000 participants were involved, suggested that there was ‘a connection between magnesium statuses and sleep quality’.
Writing in the Springer Nature magazine Nature The researchers from Iran said that this was only found in observational studies, which could not fully establish cause and effect.

Lack of sleep can lead to obesity, memory loss, diabetes, heart disease, increased and unstable emotions, reduced learning capacity and reduced immune response, making you vulnerable to diseases

Although the method is not a replacement for professional support, many have the advice of Dr. WheatTtton praised to alleviate the nocturnal attack of reflection
According to Dr. Figura is not only good for stimulating sleep health.
“If you don’t have a magnesium, your vitamin D will not work,” warned the anesthesiologist.
This is because the body needs magnesium to be able to hide vitamin D in a form that can absorb the body.
The lack of the so -called sunshine vitamin can cause a whole series of other problems, including bone abnormalities, weakness of muscles and incorrect growth patterns.
Dr. Figura said, “Vitamin D is involved in all kinds of things such as your immune system, fear and depression.”
It is estimated that about one in six adults in the UK is not enough vitamin D – which can be caused by a magnesium lack.
The NHS recommends that women between 19 and 64 270 mg get magnesium per day, while this increases to 300 mg for men of the same age.
The upper limit for magnesium glycinateHowever, it is about nine times that of other types of magnesium, because it contains a smaller amount of the element.

Without magnesium, the body cannot absorb vitamin D efficiently, which increases the risk of bone abnormalities, muscle weakness and incorrect growth patterns
Healthcare adds that most people need all the vitamins and minerals they need by having a varied and balanced diet.
Experts have long advised that leaf -green vegetables are a good source of magnesium because it is found in chlorophyll, the green pigment in plants.
Non -refined grains, nuts and seeds are also good sources, as well as some fish.
This is because research suggests that a maximum of 1 in 6 people who live in the UK are struck by insomnia – which means that they regularly have problems sleeping – but 65 percent never seek help.
The survey of 2,000 people, at the Sleep Charity, found nine in ten a kind of sleeping problem, while one in two shows a risky or dangerous behavior when they cannot sleep.
Poor sleep is linked to a number of health problems, including cancer, stroke and infertility.
Experts have long advised that waking up at night does not necessarily mean that you have insomnia, which suggests that figures of up to 14 million people influence the UK.
Nevertheless, lack of sleep takes its own toll, of irritability and reduced focus in the short term, to an increased risk of obesity, heart conditions and diabetes.
According to the American Sleep Association, almost 70 million Americans also have a sleep disorder.
